Do your linerlocks "wear out" ?

i had to send in a 1997 lg seb after 10 yrs of thousands of openings and closings. CRK sent it back looking brand new with new scales.

I use all my knives in construction work and for my normal hiking/hunting/guy stuff activities.

The LLs that come to mind are my JYD II, Shallot 110V and the Tyrade on the upper end of things. They are as tight as a drum, and the large liners lock like epoxy. Zero play. They JYD is just about a perfect work knife.

My two other larger LLs for work are my RAT 1 and my CRKT Drifter (although technically, the Drifter is a framelock). These two knives get every crap job there is, prying, scraping, chiseling, cutting by tapping the blade spine, and all kinds of other things that a knife shouldn't be used to do. But after more than a year with each, they are a bit banged up but still lock up with zero blade play. To be fair, the RAT 1 was great out of the box. But the lock was so stiff on the Drifter it took two hands (and a few broken fingernails) for a few months to get it to open and close correctly. The Drifter has turned out to be the biggest surprise for a quality, useful knife I have bought in many years.

Luckily, no lock failures on any locking knives I have owned. Some of my older knives are much more worse for wear, but none have ever completely failed.
