Does any one out there have any simmons hardware or keen kutter knives?

Here's a few I carry and use. Great old knives....Pic's aren't that good, sorry!

I love seeing this one every time you post it Jason. Simply fabulous!

Figured I would bump this old thread and see if I could shake out any more Keen Kutters. Here is my newest, it is a strange pen knife (3 1/8") with no liners, except for a catch bit as the blade is thinner than the scissors. The backspring floats about 1/8" above the back cover. Also has an etched pattern number on the back of the blade.

Thanks Supratentorial. That was quick. Three great Keen Kutters. Really nice stag on the first whittler and very nice cut swedges on the master blades of all three knives! All in great condition for knives made before 1940.

My only one is this cattle knife that looks like someone got arced when scraping a battery terminal, hence the deep divot in the clip blade edge. Otherwise it's in great shape.

Here's one I have. I love the pattern, and the bone is awesome. I just wish the blades were more full.

Only KK farmers jack I have found.I am glad to have it,albeit very used.

Nice knives, guys, good to see some more Keen Kutters come out. Atiger, does your barlow have the E.C.Simmons at the top of the tang stamp? Any chance for a photo of that one with the blades open?
Dan

Dan,

Here are a few of mine. Whittler in celluloid :suspicion:, unusual KK Barlow and a four blade model/pattern K4428. The Barlow and the Whittler are EC Simmons tang stamped at the top of the KK saw blade tooth.

I missed out on a Simmons hardware gunstock jack a while back and have been kicking myself ever since. Beautiful with peach seed jigging. If anyone has a sample, please post it up. That's the only one I've ever seen.

A lot of nice Keen Kutter knives shown.

Dan, according to Keen Kutter Pocket Knives by Alvin Sellens, your pen knife is circa 1915-1920. Nice find!

Here are 3 of mine...

Thanks MerryMadMonk, those are 3 very beauties you have there as well! Great knives Lloyd! Lloyd, nice examples of 3 different tang stamps and 2 on MMMonk's knives. According to Sellen's the stamp on the celluloid whittler is a fairly rare one, it has Made in USA instead of the usual St Louis Mo. Sellen's says the Made in USA was used on an occasional knife for a short period in the 1920's. I believe the stamp with the horns at the top, as on Lloyd's and MMM's barlows, was used towards the end of the EC Simmons era.

Thanks Dan for the information! I didn't even notice the made in USA on the Whittler:confused: I need to get my glasses adjusted. Shows you can look at something in a way you thought was pretty carefully and still not notice or see a pretty significant difference. To focused on the EC Simmons to look closely at the origin part of the tang stamp. Live and learn. Thanks again Dan, Lloyd
