Does any one out there have any simmons hardware or keen kutter knives?

I recently bought this Kutmaster jackknife. I'm afraid I don't know much about it.

I just really like the acrylic covers.

That is a beautiful barlow, Augie! I really like the style of lettering on the tang and the bolster!
Spaten, that is a nice Kutmaster, however, the covers are more likely to be celluloid than acrylic. Also, not to be a nitpicker, but this is a Keen Kutter thread.:D

Congrats, Augie; you are the most skillful "Barlow Bloodhound" I know!!;)
Awesome Simmons Barlow (or Snowwis Barlow, depending on your perspective )!
Do you know where this model falls in their "product line"? How was it marketed compared to the Keen Kutter Barlows?
(Or am I showing my inexperience by assuming this is the same Simmons Hardware as E.C. Simmons Hardware?)

Thank you Dan and GT, I don't know where it falls in the product line, I have found some information that there was 2 separate lines, Keen Kiutter and Simmons. I did find this link that has some history. Apparently Shapleigh Hardware is also involved in the history of E.C. Simmons.

Thanks for the link, Augie.
Not enough hours in the day to keep up with all this stuff, but it sure is fascinating, isn't it? :D

Simmons Hardware Co stamping was used on some of their early knives. The Simmons Hardware Co. stamp was also used from 1935 through to 1942. Based on the spun pins on your knife, I would guess it likely dates from 1935 to 1942. Shapleigh bought out Simmons Hardware in July of 1940.

Thanks for the info Dan, the time frame fits with the other knives that were in the collection I bought. I have seen the Simmons bolster stamp before but it is not that common.

Blade Commander, did you notice that the shields on our fish knives are reversed??:D

Here are some new scans of some of my Keens:

Great Keen Kutters, Charlie. I really like the two peachseed jigged bone (Schrade made I presume) ones!

Nice knives, Charlie. What happened to the few Simmons era Keen Kutters that you posted earlier? They didn't make the photo. I have a matching knife on the way.

You'll be able to CF and CE them soon, Duncan!

I just did the ones with the Wedge and Bar Shields, Jake. I'll do the rest soon.

That Scout is hiding from me - I am in the middle of a major re-arrangement.
I'll get there eventually.
