Does anyone else just give away knives like nobody's business?

It's nice to give presents, and if you're into knives they mean a lot, so what better? I've certainly given away well over 50 knives, but I've been the recipient of some fantastic generosity too :)

I an one that does this. In December I gave away 3 knives. On another forum I have pledged to give away one knife each month of the year.

If I own a knife that I don't use, theres a good chance that its going to be sold/traded/gifted away. That being said I gave away quite a few knives last year for holidays and birthdays. Some of them may not get used by their new owners but thats ok.

I've recently made a habit of carrying an extra knife in my back pocket to gift to someone that doesn't own a pocket knife. Generally it's a Rough Rider peanut, Spyderco Honeybee. I don't just give them to anyone that asks to borrow a knife. I've gifted 2 so far. One in the fall to an older gentleman trying to open a toy for his grandson at the park and one to a co-worker who was using his keys to open a box. I've seen him to it alot. He actually got a Spyderco Honeybee. The older gentleman was struggling with one of those clamshell packs so I asked him if he'd like to borrow my knife. He told me he'd misplaced his a while back and hadn't gotten around to replacing it. I handed him the RR Peanut and when he finished and started to hand the peanut back I just said, "Consider your lost knife replaced, I have another". Then I showed him the Vic Recruit I had in my front pocket. He started to protest but I just told him to have a nice day and continued on with my hike.
I've gifted several to friends but those were purchased as gifts and not necessarily from my collection. As far as the gifting to random strangers, I try to carry something under $10.

I'm new to knives so I have little to give away. I have only a handful of knives, and all but one cheap. I did recently trade off some unusable (to me) ammo for a Delica. This week, kind of spur of the moment I sharpened it as have it to a guy at work who needed a knife.

I was deep down a bit hesitant because I liked the knife, heh, but the guy was so stoked I think his reaction made my dad more than the knife made his. Good times.

I gave away all of my Cold Steel knives. I gave away my Spyderco Native, Benchmade Griptilian, SOG Pentagon, SOG Seal Team, and Buck Impulse. The only knife giveaway I regret is my Buck 110. But I gave it to my wife, so I still get visitation.

I'm giving away about twelve knives to close male relatives: sons, sons-in-law, grandkids. It's fun. Want them to know that a pocket-knife is a good thing. And I've given away a few to active military; I really enjoy doing that.

I have we'll more than I need but just keep getting more. I think I have a blade fetish. But I too have given serveral to friends and co-workers & even more so recently...1 particularly good friend who did not know much about "good knives" has been given 2 Gerbers, 1 SOG, & 1 CRKT. But why not share the wealth...can't take it w/ you when you die !...?or could you ? Be a waste to just bury them in your casket !

Many times, to many people, whether or not they are really into knives. I enjoy giving as much as I do knives.

:DKnives are currently my "go to" gift for any male family member. It is great to gift someone something that they would never go out & buy for themselves but, get great pleasure from. It almost makes me as happy as them when I see this. Also, I have the excuse to buy more for myself :D :D

Only one I have done so far is give a 2009 large annual Sebenza to a good friend of mine. I have a small regular Sebenza at CR right now for spa, which I will save for my son when he turns 18 (in 5 years).

I've done one giveaway here on BF (pair of Kershaw Leeks) and given away various others to family & friends. Maybe 15-20 overall. Several SAKs, a few of the Chinese brands (Sanrenmu, Enlan, etc.), some less expensive Kershaws (blems and Chinese-made models).

I have given several knives away....customs and production mainly to family members. My little brother has been the recipient of more than one gun from me as well. Finally hosting my first GAW in this forum as well.
