Does anyone here like CRKT?

I have several, purchased mostly before I really began to care about real quality. However, I bought a Swindle a few months ago and it's a pretty cool little knife. It's a Ken Onion design and is quite nice. The steel is not great (8cr13mov), but I knew that would be the case.

Anyone remember the old BladeLock models that had the thumbstud actuated lock? I once had one that had been modified by Butch Vallotton with a spring. It was the first of that kind I ever saw so I'm thinking it was possibly the first AO ever? It was unusual enough I traded it to the manager of a local knife store at the time for a top of the line William Henry in fishtail oak and titanium.

Of course we experts here have to justify our more expensive knives somehow. :D
But for normal people CRKT is totally fine. I got a few with nice designs but can't say I'd carry them everyday.
I have no quality problem with them and wish they would offer better steel.

I have the same opinion. I have 3 CRKT knives and they are mostly good designs and mostly made well. I have a big M16 with a questionable lock. My big M21 seems to be a good knife, and I have a little one that seems pretty much equivalent to a Leek. There are other designs that I have been interested in but I have a lot of knives and I've learned that I will not carry the less expensive knife because I have nicer knives to carry.

I've got a CRKT My Tighe that I'm very pleased with. The handle, despite being rather ugly, is very comfortable, and fits my hand perfectly. The blade may not be fancy, but it has done everything I asked of it, and the serrations have come in handy more than once. The nooks and crannies do tend to accumulate pocket fluff, though.

Yes! I always wanted one of those! Man i forgot all about them crazy things but thanks for jogging my memory.

The ones I've used seemed good, and probably worth the price, but I don't have any yet. I do have one of their tactical sporks and its pretty neat. I'll be getting one of their neck knives sometime soon. I wish they'd make an M16-14 with a spear point instead of a tanto blade. (Unless they do and I havent found it...)

I not only remember the BladeLock, I still have mine.
I've thought about selling it a few times, even included it in a couple of ads...but I've always changed my mind. (I actually submitted an ad for the BladeLock once; but withdrew it within 10 minutes)

Some i like and some i don't. Can be good users. i have used them and yes even the Chinese steels hold an edge enough. Too each their own though..........

Better yet with a plain edge instead of the combo. .........

CRKT are very good. I have had several and my M16FD Big Dog is in my EDC rotation. It's Red G10.

I'll admit to appreciating the look of some of their recent models (ie Eros & Ripple)...but I prefer larger knives, and have (almost exclusively) had a ZT in my pocket for the past 2 yrs. I guess I could justify the purchase of either, or both, if I really wanted to, though.

The original Shenanigan with 6061 scales is a good knife, IMO, as is the Foresight. Both Ken Onion designs and well executed. Nothing wrong with AUS8 in my book. I'm sure there are other good CRKT knives. Of course they don't have the reputation of Kershaw or Spyderco, but that doesn't mean they're all junk! And it also doesn't mean that no Kershaw or Spyderco ever had a defect or a F&F issue!

That being said, I own more Kershaws and Spydercos than I do CRKTs - but again, that doesn't mean there aren't any good ones.

In a world filled with Benchmade, Spyderco, Zero Tolerance, Chris Reeve, etc, etc, it's easy to forget that many (if not most) of us started with Gerber and CRKT. As we move up in price point, and experience better blade steels, it's easy to look down on "lesser" knives....but there's not much point in disparaging them, and even less so in telling another person their choice of knives is crap. A lot of people just want knives that meet their needs, and don't care to be introduced to the world of modern steels, titanium, and carbon fiber. (More for the rest of us!!)

Ive always had good luck with them. They were my go to company before i really started spending coin, but high school into college they were it. I have a m16-m (1*) which i love, great f&f sleek and sexy with od al scales. It was my first crkt and i took care of it. Also love the hissastu folder and the original. The mini van hoy was awesome untill i lost some parts from the opening lever. I really wish they did make some higjer end stuff because i really enjoy their designs.

The one in the middle is not CRKT. . . . . unless they copied a Kabar Dozier Thorn in D2. That's my favorite small knife.

I have a CRKT M16 SFG, its very inexpensive 35 bucks and for the price I can't complain one bit, it is completely solid for 35 no blade play, smooth action and lock up, one thing is about a week after I got it the auto-lawks safety malfunctioned and just turned into a regular "lawks" safety which I actually prefer so I can choose to engage the safety now if I ever want to. It's just a good beater knife, for 35 bucks I can use it to death without care and it's also good to learn to sharpen on. With that being said it was my entry blade into my newfound knife addiction and I'm just into different companies and different blade steels at this point, buuuut for the price I do believe the quality is there, for the price..

Crkt for the longest time was my favorite brand, because it not only embodied the designs i wanted but also, when i was younger i could buy them at the mall without my mother killing me for spending too much of my hardearned money. However, my affection ended when i coughed up 60 bucks for one of the large tan serrated hammond cruiser, to be an edc, under the impression that for the price it would be an upper end (albeit chinese made) product. Then found that after one time of screwing around at work by cutting twigs with the serrations that they were bent all to hell. I mean bent wayyyy over. I could still use it as a beater but its so ugly now i cant bring myself to use it.
