Does anyone keep their Sprints?

I find it a bit odd that so many of these sprints are appearing in the exchange immediately subsequent to their release. I would hate to think most of these are being bought purely for resale... that would just be a bit upsetting and contrary to the spirit of the hobby I would think.

Does anyone keep theirs? I know I do... well, most of them anyway. :p

I keep them, AND use them. :) Drives alot of people crazy lol. For me, the joy is in the actual carrying and use of the knife. But that's just me.

i think most of them go to resale, thats just my opinion, i see posts stating that someone bought 3 of an item all the time and they are all for sale or they get a few sprints together make a set and then sell them. i suppose some people make a business out of doing it.

I only have one sprint, the Millitary in M390, and it is the knife I have used the most since I got it. Starting to get some small scratches and dings, and I like it better and better.

Who cares what people do. It's their prerogative to do whatever. Ive never bought one personally. However, if someone buys a few to flip for a little extra cash, so be it.

I have already used and carried my Orange PM-2 which is now my favorite EDC. I plan to carry use and sharpen the one Green PM-2 I have pre-ordered.

I love to use my grey and blue para, my grey caly, and my M390 and XHP millie. I bought the knives to try out the steels so I tried them out and liked them enough to keep using them.

contrary to the spirit of the hobby

Spirit of the hobby? Mr. Sal - for whom I have the highest respect and who may be the nicest guy on BF - sells sprints for a profit. Why shouldn't anyone else do the same? :)

If a person does not want to buy a sprint on b/s/t or ebay, its easy to avoid. Just don't buy one. And if a person wants to buy at MSPR directly from the original vendor, then pay attention to the forums and grab one while they are available.

I sorta get - well, I do get - what you are saying. If you miss the release of the sprint run to the public, it makes a person grumpy to see them for sale on the secondary market at inflated prices. But its avoidable by buying the sprint directly from the vendor, or refusing to buy on the secondary market. These aren't generators being sold after hurricane Katrina. They are expensive toys.

I rarely sell a knife, and have never sold a sprint or dealer exclusive. But if I do at some point in the future, it will be at whatever price the market will bear.

Now, the only downside I see of this secondary market is that it might inflate prices of the primary market by increasing demand. And that does affect me.

Just my view.

A lot of people seem to think that, but a quick search of the for sale forum here turns up 69 threads on the M390 Military, some being people saying they'd trade for one. On eBay, there are 12 current auctions and 45 completed. That means eBay and BF together account for less than 15% being resold. There are of course other forums they could be put on for sale, but I'd bet BF and eBay account for the largest number, and it's a long way from the majority being resold.

Orange Paramilitary: 21 on eBay and 52 threads in the for sale forum (and again, some are asking to trade for one). I can't remember how many were in the sprint in total, but that is still a long way from most of them.

Glad to hear. I have decided that I want only the best steel which is why I buy the sprints and yes I do use them. One of my regular carries is a CF / ZDP-189 Stretch which is a fantastic knife. Some, however, are kept pristine I will admit! Dont ask me why that is I cant figure it out myself.

Thank you for your thoughts, Mr Noodle! By Mr Sal I assume you mean Sal Glesser? I was not aware that he dabbled in that aspect of knife collecting. I would like to be clear I have no issue whatsoever with reselling knives at a profit. I have done that myself on more than a few occasions. I just hope that MOST people who buy a Sprint are buying them because they love fine knives, nothing more than that! If they resell them later, that is of course, their absolute right. It might just be my perception, but I have noticed that Sprints are definitely being bought and sold with greater alacrity than before. Maybe I am imagining it...

I carry and use all my sprints (I have never sold one). Don't see the point in resale, not worth the hassle to me.

For me to shell out the cash it has to be something I want to use. That makes it pretty easy to avoid flipping it.

Why in the heck does it matter?

Anyway, I keep most all of mine, but have sold a couple.
