Does anyone know of a good chopping knife.

It depends on what you want to spend, there are plenty of good suggestions here.
On a budget, Ontario SP 50,51,52,53
I have the SP53 and it is a beast.

here is two I recently got

IMHO my Survive Knives GSO-10 is the best chopper that I have used. For some reason I thought I needed two.

From the research I've made I've come down to two choppers to decide on getting - the ESEE Junglas or the Ontario RTAK II. At the moment I'm really gravitating towards the Junglas.

take the junglas! much better quality imo and theres aftermarket handles in g10 too. mine didn't need sharpening after 5days of camping in which it was used for cutting firewood

I haven't tried one yet , but the Survive GSO 10 looks like a great chopper . One that I HAVE used a lot is the Scrapyard Dogfather . With an SR-77 blade that's 10" long and .275" thick , if the Dogfather can't chop it you pretty much need a chain saw .

In reply to Thomas Linton.

I have used a Cold Steel Trailmaster, Falkniven A2, Ka Bar Kukri and a Tops Tom Brown Tracker. I plan to get a BK9 and a ESEE Junglas in the future.

Sorry to revive such an old thread... buuuut... you are the first person ive seen post a side by side pic of these two knives and i am considering them for purchase. I couldnt message you for some reason or else i would have. I was wondering which one you liked better and which one excelled at certain tasks than the other.

Ultimately, I found that the GSO10 performed better and is much more comfortable to handle. Bravo 3 has a thick and heavy blade however, the handle is a copy of Bravo 2 (in terms of size and ergos) which is inadequate to say the least (too short/small) for such a monster knife which makes it difficult/uncomfortable to handle.

Thanks! I figured it would come down to the handle, i thought it would be the other way around though as the gso 10 looks flat and rectangular in comparison (which might not be a bad thing in the case of a chopper).
