Hawk Knives (G&G Hawk) just announced that it will be producing the "Shortcut" which is bascially a $475 boxcutter.

It is a very well designed $475 boxcutter but my $1 box cutters and $5/$8 utility knives will do me just fine. Thank-you.

I've been waiting for them to start making the MUDD again and now they're doing this? Frankly, I'm really disappointed.

But, if they're charging $1-2k for a Deadlock and $475 for this, I guess I'm not going to be able to afford (or want to pay for) a MUDD if they actually do start making them again.

This makes me regret trading away my MUDD for a BRS Alpha Beast all over again. 😢

Oh well . . . 🤷‍♂️

I use a $400 plus Microtech mini-Troodon OTF as a daily envelope and box opener. So, hey, it happens. I figure if I have to open stuff, I want something that makes me smile when I use it.

I’m never one to judge, I’ve given up trying to explain to my wife why I “need” an entire closet of knives. That said, my first instinct was this box cutter was a poorly timed April fools joke. Next I tried to convince myself I need it. Yes I have a problem.

Looks pretty amazing. If I had the money lying around I would consider it just because I love the mechanisms and the pocket clip.

I love the look of it and sorta in line with what Locutus said, when you’ve got a microtech otf as a letter opener, this doesn’t seem so bad for the amazon packages!
Hard to disagree, after spending a chunk of last weekend on my knees cutting vinyl flooring I wouldn’t have minded an excuse to pull out a $475 box cutter to make the job a little more enjoyable!

Indeed, and the freedom of being able to cut vinyl flooring without fear of blade damage, is part of what I imagine myself really enjoying. The microtech, giant mouse, etc, that I daily carry, are really not abused the way I used knives in my younger days, because I have too much love for the blades. With something like this, you could throw a damascus razor blade in there for simple days, and then a cheap razor blade for working round the house!

What exactly will that do that a $29 Buck Slim won't? Asking for a Friend.

*I did see a $465 Microtech (*go figure) "Tactical belt" the other day, and thought, "Nobody is stupid enough to buy one of those." I was wrong.

I’m sold, when do they hit the site? :-)
