Does Anyone Need A $475 Boxcutter?

What exactly will that do that a $29 Buck Slim won't? Asking for a Friend.

*I did see a $465 Microtech (*go figure) "Tactical belt" the other day, and thought, "Nobody is stupid enough to buy one of those." I was wrong.
Actual no shit top of the line gun belts that dudes buy are like $200, MOLLE compatable and fucking indestructible I don't know why someone would spend almost $300 more on a belt from a knife maker...

If done like their other sales, you sign up for the newsletter on the website, and then wait for the email announcement that they are available. I imagine they will sell quickly.
Just dug through my promotions folder, cause of course it had to be there :) looks like Oct 17, 6pm mountain time the email to pre-order goes out.

The fanbois probably heard that the Government pays $465...all day, every day...for those beauties.

...not realizing that the Government pays $465 for a lot of $20 items. 😄

I believe the person you replied to was being sarcastic BUT the procedure you describe to buy one is correct.

I have no problem with it because...America.

A lot of $400+ knives are essentially box cutters only used to slice the tape on parcels of other $400+ knives. Or get even less practical use as safe queens. Not an indictment on anyone because I have my share of those myself.

But it doesn't look very practical to me if it was seriously purpose built as a dedicated cardboard slicer.

Chief issues, imho, being the convoluted razor blade holder will bind and the lock doesn't inspire confidence <from looks> when you go to break down appliance boxes.

But those expensive knives that others use to cut tape aren't actually JUST a box cutter, which is HUGE difference IMO.

LOL! ;)

Are there any blade makers out there planning to supply buyers of the "Shortcut" with utility blades made of M390/20CV, Magnacut, S30/S35/S45/S90 or S100V(N) or any other "premium" steel?

Because, if they're willing to pay $475 for the blade holder, they should well be willing to pay at least $10 ($100 for a pack of 10) for each "replaceable" utility knife blade. Afterall, they won't have to sharpen it and can just toss it in the trash.

LOL!!!! 🤣

I think you're overlooking the pride of ownership that goes hand-in-glove with a $475 box cutter. It's a conversation starter if nothing else...and it's not much else...
