Does Anyone Need A $475 Boxcutter?

My S125V razor blade wasn't sharp enough. Guess I'm going to have to go Stellite 6k.

Hawk Knives (G&G Hawk) just announced that it will be producing the "Shortcut" which is bascially a $475 boxcutter.

It is a very well designed $475 boxcutter but my $1 box cutters and $5/$8 utility knives will do me just fine. Thank-you.

I've been waiting for them to start making the MUDD again and now they're doing this? Frankly, I'm really disappointed.

But, if they're charging $1-2k for a Deadlock and $475 for this, I guess I'm not going to be able to afford (or want to pay for) a MUDD if they actually do start making them again.

This makes me regret trading away my MUDD for a BRS Alpha Beast all over again. 😢

Oh well . . . 🤷‍♂️
To answer your question,  Need ? ...Hell No 😐

I can't speak for "anyone " else's needs ...but for $475 , there's lots of other stuff more appealing to me personally .

I didn’t need these $200 box cutters but I bought them anyway and don’t regret it. They see more use than most of my other blades. My financial situation has changed so discretionary funds are at a minimum. If I had more available I’d consider getting one.

I like the G&G Hawk stuff I’ve got. I’ll have to be happy with it.

I was thinking about this knife again. All it needs is a bottle opener, pry bar and flat head screw driver on the back of it. Then, it will be perfect.

For some reason I really like it, not $400 like it but it's pretty neat, would be fun to play with, but for a box cutter I'm just fine with my Milwaukee button lock lol

For $475 she better do more than open boxes!

I still find it funny that this came up as a question of "need" on a knife forum. I mean, even the OP has a collection of several hundred knives so I think we are far beyond need.

I also see this lock making its way to different knives in the future. This is probably just a great marketing stunt to get people talking and to fund future designs.
