Does Busse do this on purpose?

Well the extra light does show a mark of some kind at the tip Jaxx .... but the tip does still to me at least look like the "V" shape is what he was getting at .... but we had these things in macro with Noz2002 ??? with edge damage on a Gamewarden and when seen in normal focus for the full blade you could see the grind was way thin from being sharpened without lifting the tip .... if you can remember those pic's ???? Macro gives a pretty "altered" perspective .... compared to normal focus ....

A normal pic of the blade in full focus might help ....

It is a V-ground SAR. He PM'd me asking if I thought it was symmetrical. Based on what I see, it looks to be just that. I do agree, however, that better pix are needed to make the call. I asked him to PM me some...I'm still waiting. If they show his point, I'll forward them to Jerry & Amy and they can do what they do best. :)

Yup...I am done:)

I am sorry that I took a holiday off....wanted to spend some time with the family.

Thank you so much for your concern...:)

I think I am gonna take my Mom and Dad's advice...LIFE IS SHORT:)
and live it:thumbup: ...I forgot to add this...My Dad is very sick...so if you read my threads you will understand

and My Dad is telling me to get the heck of the computer...it can wait till I get back....(He said some bad words but heck.. He is right)

All of my best,
Amy-0

Those who pay attention definitely understand.

We're your friends. We trust you implicitly and enjoy the time you spend with us ... electronically.:)

You've got much more important things to do now. And that's more than alright.:):)

The knife has not been used to cut anything.

I got it from Busse exactly like this.

I posted here to ask a question. Thinking it was impossible to get two knives in a row

like this. Thank you for lightening it up as it clearly shows an uneven grind.

Here is the Swamp Rat HRLM I put up earlier to compare it to:

Lighten this one up.

I posted looking for a simple answer, and now I've sullied someones long weekend.

Not my intention.

Your Dad is right  Enjoy home time and these things can wait till your back in the office  Besides .... the pic's are not at all clear and when re-done there may be no problem ....

Hope things get better for your Dad Amy ....

I don't need to. The HRLM is clear enough and the camera is straight on, but with the SAR, it really isn't. Can you take a few more, from straight on, with more light, and as focused as possible? :)

Again, I don't see the mis-grind, and can't with this pic.

EDIT to add: Look, unless you can shoot it straight on, like the HRLM, I can't offer any accurate opinion on it, and I suspect that no one else can either. I can take a perfectly symmetrical edge and shoot it in such a way that you'd be 100% certain that it is an asymmetrical ground knife. Now please, either try to provide an accurate pic or drop the subject and take it up with Busse tomorrow. Your second pic is harder to evaluate the grind on than the first.

The only thing that matters here is that a CUSTOMER has expressed his concern about a product that he spent his hard earned money on. Of course, he is not trying to interrupt anyones holiday weekend, but is merely posting the question here for eventual handling by Busse.

It is indeed unfortunate that Busse has allowed their quality control to slip of late. We know that their Customer Service after the sale is great, but a company only gets ONE chance to make a first impression with a customer.

As much as I am a kool-aid drinkin' fanboy, I have to agree.

Actually, he came on here asking for an opinion. You are right, however, and if he has an issue, he needs to call Busse tomorrow to get it squared away. :)

The best way to do a pic of the tip area is to go outside with the knife and invert it and take a pic of the whole edge from far enough back to put it in perspective ....

Here is a pic I did to show a re-grind of a clip point on a Horton which was done with a penetrator tip .... the idea was to show the grind's sharpness and the tip shape ....

IMHO it's not a "concern" when you are asking if they do this on purpose.

I think people forget that the final edges are done by people...living, breathing humans. So, in all seriousness, the grinds aren't going to be perfectly symmetrical on any knife.

Some people tell me I do a "perfect" job on their edges. I know better. I guarantee that none of them are perfectly symmetrical. But they aren't sloppy, either. But I'm only doing one at time, maybe only one that day. If I had a stack of a few hundred to do, no way would they all be the same. My new BWMLE came with a pretty good edge. But a $600 knife should.

I was just asking a question guys.
The way the title is posted sounds a little facetious/sarcastic , but the I understand the point is that edge quality has been and is an ongoing concern for some folks. While CS is generally superb with Busse, the QC is obviously suffering. Hopefully the Boss has a fix that will stick this time.

Heck no problem, and I'm sorry to hear about your edge troubles.

They have had a few problems with edges, but Jerry has recently stated that this would not be a problem in the future.
I believe him, and hope you don't give up on Busse just yet.

I know its a hastle, but just send it back and they will get it right this time.

Edit- here is his post, and I believe Jerry when he says he is going to take care of this problem. Please don't give up on Busse just yet.

To be honest with you, I really can't comment intelligently on the edge without seeing the knife. . . . (I can barely do anything intelligently, so I need all of the help I can get!)

Send it in and we'll give it a look under the naked eye.

Thanks man and sorry for the inconvenience,

Jerry
