Does every 55 feel like the blade is rubbing/grinding on opening and and closing?

Ditto what BuckShack said, and you might also try using a blow gun on an air compressor. Stuff gets caught in the tight spaces around the pivot and the between the lock bar, blade tang and liners. High pressure will usually dislodge it.

I did clean and oil it, but did not use an air compressor. Maybe I'll try that tomorrow.

Just checked mine, same gritty feel. Just to compare I tried a 500, a 112 and a 110, All smooth except the 55. Not a big deal but noticeable.

Well earlier in the thread, the fellow from Buck said there was an issue during this time period, that got corrected, but didn't really say what it was.

I'm just going to keep working it. I'm afraid if I send it back to Buck that I may get one back that I don't like the wood grain as much.

Just let them know you want the same knife back, not a replacement.

I just fixed it! I think I figured out the trick. Bruce Allen Bruce Allen , try this with yours.

I paused the football game, and scrubbed the moving parts out with Dawn dish liquid, and a jet of hot water by putting my finger over the faucet in the basement sink. As I got it dried out, it still had the rough spot in the same part of the opening cycle. So, BEFORE I OILED IT, I worked that part of the cycle back and forth quickly for a couple minutes, dry. At that point, I could feel the pivot getting tighter and in different spots of the cycle, telling me that now we're making shavings / dust, and taking off the burr or high spot.

I could tell the rough spot was gone, so I scrubbed it out with dish liquid again, dried it completely with the hair dryer, and oiled it up with Hoppes 9. Now it's a smooth as silk. I had previously oiled the knife yesterday, and the oil was keeping the movement from wearing down the rough spot. Working it dry seemed to wear it in faster.

I hope this helps someone else with rough movement.
