Does everyone still own SAKs?

I've never owned one and likely never will.

My EDC includes a Leatherman Juice, right now I'm carrying a Leatherman Charge. If I need to use a tool I know that the tool will be up to the task.

SAK might be useful to a person that otherwise wouldn't be carrying a tool.

Depends upon need and the type of tool. All multi's are a compromise. I use my Farmer's awl and saw tools consistently in the field. Do the juice or charge contain those tools? Also, the charge is almost 3 times heavier and not pocket friendly, especially for lightwight pants or shorts, so is another compromise. Define your needs, then weigh the pros/cons. Its not black and white.

I always carry a Super Tinker -- it's the only SAK I've owned over the years. I have a Leatherman multitool that I use at work for heavier duty, but I always have the SAK in my pocket.

I usually have a SAK on me, lately I've been carrig a Leatherman Micra instead but its just not quite the same.

I've carried a Victorinox Hiker in my pocket everyday for years now.
Before the Hiker I carried, off and on, a Super Tinker, Spartan, Classic and a few Wenger models.

I pair it with either an Izula II or a OHO folder usually.

SAK's are forever!!! Don't leave home without it!!
Gave my 28 year old Red Wenger to my nephew and upgraded to this Sunset Orange Farmer.

I bet they have to be the most carried knife in existence.

Well, it has been documented that Victorinox is the largest pocket knife producer in the world, and the Victorinox classic is the single most produced knife in the world. Victorinox makes a bit over 35 million knives a year. Of those, 9 million are the classic model. Blade magazine had a cover shot of the little classic some years ago, and titled it as the most confiscated pocket knife at airports.

The tiny classic makes a great key chain knife and often times people forget they even have it until they hit the TSA checkpoint.

... and then I buy them off of ebay. I've never had to buy a Classic brand new, thanks to the TSA.

Thanks for the overwhelming replies! SAKs are great knives, appreciated by knife nuts and non-nuts.

The reason why I posted this was, 99% of the time when someone asks "what should I buy," the answer is Spyderco, Kershaw or Benchmade. SAKs hardly get a mention. I was wondering if they had slipped out of the general consciousness.

The only people answering Spyderco, Kershaw, or Benchmade are your fellow knife nuts. Most of the unwashed non knife people don't even know what a Spyderco is. But people world wide buy SAK's because in brand recognition studies the red handle SAK with the Swiss cross on it comes in only after Coco-Cola, Bic, and Exon. Even the most oblivious non knife person knows what a Swiss Army knife is, and some of them even have fond memories of a TV show with the hero of the week using one for all kinds of things. Victorinox has the worlds largest knife factory, and employes more workers than any other two brands of knife. Go into any Walmart, Target, Dick's, and see what there is the most of.

World wide, SAK's rule the roost.

I just grabbed another SAK Camper or Camping ? Then returned it and tossed in some more bucks and got my third multi tool. The SAKs have their place but the multi just seems more useful, for myself at least as I often have a metal detector outdoors.

I have a farmer in my pocket a lot of the time, and almost always have a black classic with me. I have a Super Tinker that goes fishing with me a lot. I've always had at least one SAK for at least the last 25 years. I love 'em.

Big Victorinox fan here. The Pioneer is probably my overall favourite folder in my collection and the Rambler goes with me everywhere.

I do own several SAKs and i pack them for overseas trip because bringing normal folders can easily cause alot of security problems. I love how stain resistant they are, and the large flat screwdriver that pries open things very well too!
