Does having two different handle scales bug anyone else?

I thought you meant off by a shade or 2. I was going to tell you to lighten up!

Now that I see you mean two different materials. I couldn’t do that either.

I have a few knives that are scrimshawed on one side, even that bothers me a little.

Doesn't bother me at all. I have frame lock knives with different show side scales. I have knives that are identical on both sides. They are all awesome and all useful. I welcome diversity.

They DO taste better...
But if you wish: would you drive a vehicle that was blue on one side; and red on the other?

I have one of these, it's pretty sweet:

I kind of figured that you would...
It's an eye-catcher : that's for certain!

If this bothered me, I could only own a fraction of the Spydercos and ZTs that I own now.

The vast majority of which come w/a synthetic scale material (usually G10 or CF) attached to a stainless steel or titanium frame. It would also eliminate most of the vintage Kershaws that I own too.

So, I'm glad that it doesn't matter to me.

Was it vinyl?
I've got a two-tone little car right now...

I don't have an issue with it, and have a few knives that have this "feature". Having the clipside be Ti usually helps in sliding the knife into a pocket, a big plus if the other scale is rough micarta or G10. 🤷‍♂️

Well I'm happy to know I'm not alone at least!

The above bugs me less than the knives that (like my Tuna) have a show side and a lock side scale that are different materials. I don't really mind the look of different colors (although I wouldn't do it on a car!), its mostly the texture difference that bugs me.

I understand why the show side scale would be made out of the grippier material (or anything besides the bare metal), but when the knife is in use the lock side is the side is the most in contact with my hand, meaning that the grippier, textured material is not, and the smooth part is in contact with the most skin. Just seems a little backwards ya know?

That said, I've been carrying the Tuna the past few days to see if I can get past it, because I like everything else about the knife. We will see!

I hate this with the passion of the fire of a thousand suns, especially when I see a knife that I like and then the backside doesn't match. It's like a lady with lovely heynows and no ahem.

I picked up a hinderer xm-18 bowie blade, took off the standard g10 and replaced with carbon fiber hopping I would get a little more grip! looks grate but not much in the grip dept. I would rather have scales on both sides just improve the feel & grip of the knife, out side of that hinderer makes a outstanding knife solid quality I would say.

I prefer it the other way around, but I get what you mean. What's more disconcerting is if the heynows were very assymetrical 🤪
