Guys , is this shrinking valid only for ironwood and only if it is not drained properly before use as handle or is valid for entire time in life use of wood ? How much in percent should move under inch width wood so you can fill that with nail ? I have some handle from ebony and I play little with them this days ....I leave them in water for half hour and after that measured with micrometer , then leave them on sun all day , put in deep freeze .........I CAN T find difference in measurement ? This knife I regrind from old kitchen knife about six month ago , since then handle / walnut / is wet - dry many, many times during one day .......I can t see that wood is moving ?
