Something I forgot to mention before is that I also like buying from a smaller operation with limited production. To me, this adds intangible value to the knife. Maybe I'm over simplifying things, but something made in China is typically mass produced on a large scale. Smaller operations do not only have to be in the USA, but it's nice when they are. I have bought from European and Russian companies as well.

Not only do I prefer USA made blades, if I can help it I'll buy Ohio or Kentucky made blades. I just like to support my people or people close by.

The vast majority of my knives are USA made knives..... Mostly production or mid and the odd custom. If Canada had more productions knife companies Im sure I would buy them! Japan also has great knives coming out of it too. But all said and done, a good production made knife at a good price, its probably gonna be USA made for me!

I guess that might make sense if the steel they used was mined in those states and refined etc. Also the slab material and machinery it was made on etc. Then it also all came from those states distributors and retail supply shops the knife maker buys from. Carry that process up and down as far as you like. Otherwise knifemaker sends the money outside the state right away. Point is it's always been a world economy. Just now people are paying a lot of attention to it.

I really, truly don't care. I like quality, reputable manufacturers and high value offerings. Country of origin is a nonissue one way or the other. Some US blades are a great value, some aren't. Same as any other country.

Another thing also is U.S.A made is another marketing tactic to overprice knives.
Depends. Buy vintage. MY EDC cost me less than $15 sometime in the last couple of years. A USA-made Uslter180/Craftsman 9507 from Schrade's old Ellensville, NY plant ~50 years ago.
