If the knife you bought is satin finish and the box is labelled stone finish. The seller did post a stone finished knife for sale.
Would this seller become untrusted?
Would this defamed the forum?
Just curious,,,

There is always the possibility that the seller doesn't know the difference between "satin" finish and "stone washed" finish.

If the box says stone finished, and the seller advertised it as stone finished, then I'd be inclined to believe they don't know the difference and just used the description from the box.

I would also consider the possibility that the manufacturer either mislabeled the box or put the knife in the wrong box.

My concern would be- did the seller change the finish themselves and sell it as "original condition" without mentioning that they changed it.

As long as the knife is in it's original condition, and I was happy with the knife, the slight difference in finish wouldn't bother me.

The seller is a forum member for 12 years. I am highly doubt a vet seller can't distinguishing the difference.
The original picture posted cannot tell the type of finishing.
This is like new item not BNIB and seller also indicated the model number. Manufacture mistake? not possible. I would trust MT a little bit more than individual seller. :)
I do like the knife but that is not the discussion here. We are talking this is a "mistake" or "misinform" by the seller.
Since we are buy and sell over the posting. The trust is very important. If we lost the trust then the forum is very difficult to continue.
Maybe the BF should have some sort of remedy since seller do need to pay subscription.

Have you approached the seller with your concern?

IMO this is pretty clearly not a stonewashed blade, but I know I've overlooked stuff when I was excited about a sales listing (not saying that's what you did, just saying I can see how I might have missed it). I've also gotten mislabeled boxes from manufacturers before.

We're not mind readers. We can't tell you if the seller was being dishonest or not. If you are unhappy with any aspect of your purchase contact the seller and ask for a refund. If you intend to keep the knife then I think it would be bad form to publicly accuse him of dishonesty when you have the option to seek a refund.

If you believe the seller is dishonest then don't buy from them anymore. But to publicly question a persons honesty is a serious matter and should not be done without solid evidence. I don't know what you mean by "remedy", but again, without evidence that it was dishonesty and not an honest mistake I think that YOU would be the one in the wrong if you tried to damage that members reputation and ability to sell on this forum.

It makes sense to me that a person selling a knife would sell it using the description on the box it came in.

And if it's the seller in dadpools link, that members join date is May 18, 2021. Math was never my best subject, but that's a lot less than 12 years (less than 2 months). Looking at his sales history it looks like he offered his first knife for sale on June 14, 2021. Although being new would never be a justification for dishonesty, it could certainly explain why he might trust the description on the box and not contradict the box by providing his own interpretation of the finish.

I see nothing in that members FOR SALE posts to indicate that he is dishonest. And his feedback looks good, so I assume the people he's done transactions with are happy.

I did talk to the seller I purchased from. It is the seller told me that he got it from another seller on the forum. I also tried to post a message on this seller's page but so far no response.
I just hope this is an honest mistake.

I am not trying to damage anybody. I just state the facts. I am not indicate any names either. The "seller" reputation is not made by me. It is established by the selling records. If the seller just selling according to the box says. Maybe next time you can put a pound of gold in the box and labelled stone for $1? That would be very irresponsible. Just kidding though. Protect seller's right and also need to give buyer more comfortable and trustworthy environment to shopping, agree?

No need to ban anybody. Just want a trusted environment so knife lovers can do their exchange.;)
It sounds a small thing but a snow ball can grow bigger if it keep rolling downhill.

Did post a message on the original seller's page, so far no response though.

Knife is good, no issue, just blade finish is not what the box indicated and original seller posted.

Can you post a pic of the knife in question ?
If a seller in their description lists what’s on the box, then IMO, that’s how the maker sells the knife, maybe the maker considers the flats of a blade either satin or stone washed and not the entire blade. Maybe a maker considers the whole blade when labeling their product, maybe some makers give a two tone description with their product, like stone washed blade with satin flats. I think the description of knives varies from maker to maker and that’s what a seller lists.

to get a response, I suggest you quote something in the thread of the sellers, post in his(or her) profile page or @name. They likely are not checking old for sale threads and this will get their attention
As to the present seller, just let them know what the problem is and see how they respond. It will tell you a lot about the person and how they conduct business. My guess is that it is just an honest mistake. There was nothing to be gained . In the end, you seem to be happy with the knife, and don't want to return it, so an explanation is all that is needed. If you want to return it, just tell them so.

I don't know anything about Microtechs, so I looked at some distributors' pictures online. These were not the best pictures so it was hard to tell, however the stonewashed did not look very "varied" in their appearance and the satin almost looked polished.

My guess is that it is just an honest mistake(at worst). There was nothing to be gained .
