Recommendation? Does this exist?

Besides the already mentioned sowbelly, Case also makes a few barlows with a single clip point blade, 3 3/8 inches closed, and I believe no half stop, made in the US and under 100 bucks.

BP the Moore Maker boys' knives are USA made by Canal Street Cutlery CoOp. The ironwood and ash trappers were as well. I made the ash and ironwood boys' knives as well as the ironwood trappers, a guy named Kenny Rose made the osage orange boys' knives as well as the ash and osage trappers. They're all 1095 steel.

Thank you for the info. I appreciate that, I was having a hard time figuring out who, what, and when.

Don't let my review turn you away from the Moore Maker Boys Knife, I was being very nit-picky in that review... because I think reviews should be nit-picky.
It really is a solid, well-built knife that I'm super happy to own. The only real flaw was the slight gaps in the liners. You run the risk of getting those with just about any brand except GEC (Bill's a wizard). The only other nit-pick I had was the edge grind wasn't even, but that was so easy to fix as not to be an issue at all.

I think more than anything, your review turned me on to them. The biggest question was where they come from (who makes them) which has been addressed. I appreciate the review because it has me looking at a knife I would otherwise not even know existed. And it ticks all the boxes.:thumbsup:

Buck 302 checks all boxes and I just saw them online for 26 bucks each. Granted they are discontinued but there is still stock out in the wild.

That would be very nice indeed. I just haven’t been able to find any out there, especially not for 26 bucks! That’s awesome :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Just pm’d you a link. I’ve never ordered from them and didn’t call to confirm but the site lets me add to cart and go to check out so...

Edit: I just ordered one for my daughter. 33 bucks and change shipped.

Yep, it let me add one and submit my order as well. Thank you very much for that help

Being a Buck guy, I know this one will get pocket time and I’ll really enjoy it. Being a knife nut, I’ve still got my eye on those others... ;):D:rolleyes:

Thanks for opening the blinds, Eric!!

Good thread, guys. Thank you for all your help. If anyone thinks of any others, you might drop them in this thread for the next fella that comes along searching. I’m also not done, I think that MM and that Case are on the short list. Annnnnnnd I got me a 302 solitaire, which I’ve had an eye on a while but they’re discontinued. This has been fun.

Just picked this up today. Nice little example, I’m really very impressed. I think I’ll still look at that Case, it’s an interesting little knife. But we will see how I end up liking this one over a period of time. Initial impressions are very good so far

I’ve really been liking that MM boys knife. Great size, great F&F at its price point. It’s been riding in my pocket daily.

The Case sowbelly is still calling me. I’ve been waiting until I see a cheap CV single blade version pop up somewhere. I think that’ll be a fun knife.

I’d really like a boys knife pattern the same size/shape as the MM, single blade, with an upgraded/stainless steel. Anyone know of anything like it?

BP there'll be some of these coming up in about a month or so. Had a bit of a delay due to coronavirus closures but things are slowly coming together. Same 3 3/8" length, slightly different blade shape (the back's a bit longer), cpm 154 steel:

Nice. Sounds like just about exactly what I was looking for. It’s been tough finding this patter with no half stop, and better-than-average steel. I’ll keep an eye out, and pick one up when they come out. Keep me posted if you think about it. Thank you very much
