I love Curtiss knives and have bought three now. Large custom and I paid 700.00 and the other 2 f3 mediums 450.00 and 500.00 I can't belive this one sold for this much. I am now thinking of selling one of mine... I won't cause I like them too much but still wow!!
Is this now around the going price for these?

Don't be swooned by making a little bit of cash at the expense of an overzealous buyer. Keep your knife and enjoy it for the reasons you bought it.

Yea I didn't get into this for making money. If I do sell a knife I don't really like I try to sell it for what I bought it for. I just can't believe how high these knifes have went in the last month I have seen them on EBay.

Wow, I love my F3's but if those secondary prices stay true then I'll most likely have 2 less knives in my collection lol.

I have one very desirable Randall that the prices are insane as listed on fleabay. Don't use it. Never cut anything with it. I have thought about selling it (or trying to), but it is a why bother kind of thing for me. I am not really very familiar with Curtiss knives and I would follow your gut. If you want to sell or might, list it at a high price and see what happens. But I always wanted the knife more than the money if I like it.

Another prime reason I'm so glad I'm left handed and don't like titianium frame locks.

'Cause I'd be broke.

I didn't know those existed and man they are gorgeous. I checked the sold listings on EBay and the prices are all over the place. There was a sweet Damascus bladed flipped sold in May that is pretty sweet.

W_Cole and last week a large spear point F3 used went for 840.00 and it looked just like this medium.

Yea I love my Curtiss knives and I think if I sold them my collection would not feel complete. They are awesome knives but what people are paying for them on the secondary right now is crazy.

Years ago at a flea market there was a stand that sold Craftsman tools for about double of what Sears sold them. Guess what? They sold. I saw people checking them out oohing and ahing that they were actually Craftsman and the price was about right. Being a mechanic at the time I just shook my head. I was tempted to let them know they would pay about half as much at Sears but decided that if people were willing to pay, better luck to the proprietor. Doesn't surprise me a bit when I hear of anything on Ebay selling for more than it's worth, especially knives.

Just like these guys selling the Norsemen knives double or triple what they are worth. People need to wise up and not pay that much for it and then it wouldn't make the secondary market sky rocket . But I guess if people are gonna be that stupid then why not take advantage of it? I

I think a better place to find the "going price" would be on the Custom Exchange on this forum, eBay has a lot more variables then a knife forum exchange.

It could have been the right two bidders at the right time on the right day, because that knife will not move on this forum @ 930$

eBay is a special place where a lot of special things can happen....

I am an expert on looking for F3s....I bid on that one and lost miserabley! The problem, as W_Cole will attest, is that you cannot find any. Dave will put one out every couple of weeks and they sell for 1600 and are gone in minutes. When was the last time one was available at any online retail site? If a Sebenza was as difficult to get you dont think it would fetch
the same price. You aways know you can get a CRK whenever you want, but a Curtiss F3 is like the Flying Dutchman...you may see one every once in a while, but you may never get your hands on one....and afterall it is one of the iconic knives ever made!

Name your price and see if I bite!!

More than its's worth? Are you an appraiser of custom knives now....If it sold for 950 then there were a lot of other bids for not too far below I bet....things are worth what someone will pay for them! Is a Mosier, Rassenti, RJ Martin, or Thorburn worth it?
then why not an F3?

One man's stupidity is another man's genius!

Actually, there was exactly one bid not too far below. The next highest bid was over $500 less.

Nevertheless, you are correct. Something is worth what someone is willing to pay, or--in the case of auctions--what *two* people are willing to pay.

Did you click on the option to see auto bids?....so either someone just jumped 500, or it was an auto bid war jumping by $5every time....which neans the guy who put 945 lost

The winning bidder placed his $930+ bid six days before the auction ended.

In the ensuing days several people bid in increasing increments, mostly in the $330-400 range. On the final day of the auction one bidder went to $421 and another bid $920.

Seems most people value the knife at around $375, give or take $50. Two people disagreed.

I think 375 is a little low on that estimate I was thinking a good buy for the average is 500/550 maybe even a little more. but maybe I am wrong
And I tell you right now anyone has any F3 for 375.00 I will buy everyone!!

Cjwknives I totally agree with that price range, 5 to 6 hundred maybe even 700 would be my top dollar for one of Dave's knives. The problem is that F3's are hard to come buy, find the right knife fanatic and they will be willing to pay that kind of money.

I know I'm not the only one, get a certain knife in your head and it's all you can think about. Find that knife and you're willing to pay double what it's worth to have it. Some people call that "addiction" lol

Of course, I go and say the max I would spend on one is 700 and just picked up a F3 Large for 800. Go figure.

Yes...we all need professional help! What happens when the knife stuck in your head is one of those $2500 knives.....then we are in big trouble!!
