Dog Days of Summer GAW - Winner Post #41

I'd be in if possible. Thanks for this GAW opportunity. Fave pie would be pecan! I've seen others speak of being the family baker and I too have been our big southern families pie baker for decades now. It's a labor of love and never a slice left over. lMust be pretty good? But dangit, there are so many other pies I love as well. 😅

Gooseberry pie. The only pie that when it's reeally gooood, you don't want but one piece 'cause it's gooseberry sour, ya gotta wait an hour or so for the next slice 😃. Thanks for the giveaway,I like your taste in knives!

For my second entry I’d like to nominate Modoc ED Modoc ED because I’m pretty sure the wagon wheel cafe has got to have some pie!

Another photo near Grandad’s final resting place wouldn’t be complete without another pie story.

Now i’m pretty sure this is just a story, but knowing him I would not put it past him. He told me the story many times since I was a kid and told her to my daughters more than once. Allegedly He and a buddy we’re hunting and flipped a coin to see who would cook. His buddy lost the coin toss so he had to cook but if Grandad complained once he had to take over as the cook. During the week the food wasn’t too bad and his buddy was getting a little tired of cooking. He started to burn a couple of things but granddad never said a word. One night his buddy made a pie out of moose turds. Grandpa took a bite and jumped up in his seat and yelled “MOOSE TURD PIE!!!??? But it’s really good!!!”

Of course knowing what a practical Joker he is, I’m not so sure they didn’t actually pull that prank on somebody🥧

Thanks for a generous giveaway. Whittler are such a cool pattern. I like just about any kind of pie, but probably my son’s cherry pie takes the cake, er, pie?

I’d like to nominate Jiki Jiki and Henry Beige Henry Beige for my entries, if you don’t mind.

I better enter for myself before I forget. By the way, my second favorite is apple pie.

Great GAW Tim, I’m in. Like many others a good key lime pie is my favorite.

Also, knife content.

I can still remember that pie from when you first posted it! 🤣👍

I'm in a position of having to recycle photos. Imgur is not allowing me to upload any. I've installed an Uninstaller multiple times. No go.

I got another hosting account and it won't upload any photos from my new phone. Apparently the pixel count is too high or something. Lots of knife photos and I can't seem to get them to work.

Not to mention the 10k plus photos there Photobucket held hostage and watermarked even after i paid up to try to rescue the. Shoot I've been paying a monthly fee for years even though I don't use them, and they deleted/ruined most of my photos.

Sorry to hear about this T, how frustrating ☹️ The same thing happened to me with PB 😡 I didn't have anywhere near as many as that though, as most are on my hard-drive (with double back-up). I hope your wife makes you another one of those memorable pies soon my friend 🙂👍

Very generous GAW, Tim; thanks for the opportunity(s)!:cool::thumbsup:
Thanks to JohnDF JohnDF for the mathematical entry on my behalf; much appreciated!

I'm in for the splendid whittler!
I used to be a big fan of an apple pie that I used to make, but I lost the recipe in a move many years ago. I'm a little ashamed to admit that my current favorite fruit pie is Marie Callender's Razzleberry Pie - so good and SO easy!

Best wishes to all the entrants!

I'd like to make a second entry on behalf of Greg sunknife sunknife , a man who really enjoys his whittlers!
Since I'm currently in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, I'm going to say that my favorite MEAT pie is a pasty, which is a popular menu item up here. (But when it comes to "comfort food", I still get occasional yearnings for just a cheap salty Banquet chicken pot pie.)

ETA: My wife coincidentally went out yesterday late afternoon and planned to bring us whitefish sandwiches for supper. But she came back with a beef pasty for me; lots of root vegetable goodness! Here's a photo:
