Dog Soldier 6 vs Alpha Dog 6

Hey, that’s terrific—thanks! Great to have them on the same scale!

Looks like the AD6 got a weight savings benefit from the higher grind and swedge that is even greater than the weight saved by the fullers on the DS. Plus somewhat improved cutting geometry for the AD. Good to know!

After I did the dremel treatment from my previous post, I tested both dogs on a pineapple. They both cut great, but the DS6 was left stained. The AD6 was clean, no stains. So I decided to try to reach a satin finish on the DS6. After a LOT of hand sanding. This is what I achieved. The edge was pretty dull from all the sanding. The final step was a new convex edge from the Work Sharp (Ken Onion). It’s shaving sharp again. This was a very satisfying project. I love this INFI stuff! Oh and the DS8, I finally scored... arrives tomorrow ;)

Had a sorta similar thing happen to me. I finally stripped my DS6. After I thought I had all the carburization (or whateveryoucallit!) off it, I went inside and cleaned up. It and me. lol and behold, no sooner than I got it wiped off, I saw red rust start showing up in places. Back to the Dremel polishing. One more round, and that took care of it. Never had to go to sanding it.

Think I like it just where it is now. I’ll try to post photos as soon as I can.

Finally got a chance to photo my stripped DS6 today, and upload them. As you can see, I missed a little of the decarb during my stripping. In the fuller, and right at the edge of the Res C. Took another whack at those spots today. I’ll have to wait a couple of days to see if that took care of it, or if I need to hit it some more. Decarb pretty well sucks.
