looks like i have found my new dog. meet Poppy. :)
12-18 month old, 24" high at the shoulder. rescue dog
looks like she needs a bit of feeding, but salukis are supposed to show ribs.

my application has been approved, need to get a home visit to get me approved, then a letter from my landlord.
should hopefully be on track for january.

She looks young and healthy. Good on you adopting her, we should all adopt more. Put some pics up when she finally gets home. :)

You need a home visit and a note to adopt a dog! My oh my.

Nice looking doggie.

Congrats Kronk! Pretty girl there! She looks fast! Dont forget to tie up the Dire wolves and put the gazelles away!

Oh heck, I forgot about all that. Now I see the reason for the home visit. The visitor is doomed me thinks? If one critter don't get him the other will for sure.

ndoghouse, she's gonna be in charge of the dire wolves. she will have them wrapped around her little finger in no time. and probably me too.

the moat beast is cleaning out his lair and tidying up the skeletons in the moat. the lion is hiding. it has one eye out tho, it's heard she likes cats, so he's is purring a bit.
the vampire troops are grumbling, but that's a good sign, when they stop grumbling i worry. even the headsman is hanging curtains in the dungeon this coming week, instead of the peasants.
i hear the peasants are preparing a surprise welcome home banner to hang from the battlements when they go mup there to wash off the blood. i guess i'll need too increase their gruel as a present when i get 'surprised. mebbe a scrap of meat in the gruel if it's real nice. after all they had a whole hour off on xmas, and i let them make soup out of the bones the dire wolves and lion left behind from their dinner. there wernt many of those tho.

Good to see you getting another friend rescued, kronckew!

Hoos rescuin' hoo? ;) :D

thanks, one more tidbit i gleaned from the rescue centre's forum, she was rescued from the pound. how could anyone do that to her?
she been at the foster's about a month & put on a bit of weight. the human in the picture gives a better idea of her size.

newsflash - just heard two other families have expressed interest in her. i hope i stay out in front. the race is on.

Good luck Kronk! Wow shes 12-18mo. Still a pup! Soon as I get the moat done im adopting a few more. My dogs are getting up there in age (almost 14) but I want a few more trained from my present pack. I find its much easier to guide an already trained pack than to start all over again with an entirely new pack.
edit: Well...I dont know if you ever get Jack Russels trained? It more a mutual acceptance:D

Congratulations. Its always great to have a dog to run your life! And thanks for rescuing a dog.

We have this quote inscribed at the humane society shelter where I volunteer (well, I think I'm accurate but I'm kind of paraphrasing from memory):

"Rescuing one dog will not change the world, but the world will surely change for that dog"

homecheck passed, went to see her at her fosters on saturday, she's a real sweetheart, bit of a bossy boots to the other doggies there. one of the whippets came ove for a pet and she pushed him away and got in between us so i'd pet her instead. went for a walk. she's very well behaved. foster says she might be younger than they thought as she's grown about an inch the last month. and put on a few pounds.

last major hurdle was my landlord's OK, which i got today. they are the local council (govt.) .
the policy had been that we could move in with a dog, but not replace it if it passed.

the council approved cchanging it last march, they got final plan approval just before xmas for implimentation in january.

i got their email today approving poppy! they're going to send a letter to the rescue confirming. next step is she's being spayed on the 13th, week till stitches come out, then hopefully barring some disaster, i can sign the papers, pay the fees and take her home around the 20th.

:D:D:D

Great to hear Kronckew!!!!
Good for you both!

"Adopting a dog won't change the world....but the world will surely change for that dog"

homecheck passed,
Howd you pull that off? They dont know about all your other critters?

Congrats Kronckew! Hope all works out with the final paperwork! Gonna be a long two weeks eh? I have a Jack Russell we rescued after a hurricane and he is super jealous. He even sleeps between my wife and I when he can. When I hug her he growls at us but we never know which one hes growling at. I dont think he knows either. He just dont like anyone else other than him getting the attention.

i promised that she won't be allowed to eat any of the other critters. the dire wolves are looking forward to her coming. they like being dominated by an alpha female canid. the moat monster is quivering in it's (i ahven't figured out what sex it is yet, it keeps changing) lair, the imaginary lion is hiding under the bed, and even the piranha have applied for taking their back vacation time. haven't seen a rat, spider or viper in days. the peasants are as usual, revolting. i'll need to bathe them before she arrives. they've had their flea treatment, been dewormed and shots up to date.
the vampires are re-enforcing their coffins as they've heard she's in her puppy chewing phase still. she loves bones. the dragon in the sub-sub basement has been asking if he can keep a pet. i may give him the velociraptor. speaking of which, he's fallen for her already, you can see little cartoon hearts coming off his head as he gazes at her photo, and it's getting wet from his kissing it. interspecies love - watch this space. he's even refusing a nice juicy rare peasant steak i whipped up for his dinner.
