Doggie!

a blast from the past... brings back memories...

on a more current note:

today was sunny. i went into the garden with poppy lunch time to try to teacher her how to fetch a tennis ball.

she already knows how.

i threw, she caught it on the hop & zoomed around in three circuits of the whole 100ftx100ft. square area, and came back to me and dropped the ball at my feet. we repeated that 4-5 times, she finally wiped out on a slippry wet patch and decided that was enough and laid down. (she had enough sense not to jump the fish pond when i threw over it. :) it has a net on top to keep the cats & birds out.)

neighbor with her lhasa apso told me she'd watched us, picked up her dog, tillie, and told it that was what she should be doing. tillie plays fetch fine indoors but ignores the ball outdoors. they went out after we went in. poppy watch from our window. tillie ignored the ball.

tonite we went out at sundown, she found a stick she liked, bigger than she was, and ran around a bit with it till i threw her ball. again, zoomies all over, went to the far corner, had a wee. dropped her ball & had a poo, then found her ball again. came charging back to me, dropped the ball about 30 ft. away. i asked her where her ball was & she ran back & got it. we played some more till she had enough again. smart dog.

Glad to see poppy is settling in with ya Kronck. Something about tennis balls? I had a dog that lived For them. If I wanted to find her all I had to do was open a new can of tennis balls and she would come running, soon as she heard the pssssst from the seal breaking open. I have a Jack Russel. Now that will do about two fetches then losses interest. Hes 14 years old now but still chases deer! Congrats on your new owner poppy!

I've heard that Tennis Balls weren't good for a dogs teeth, wears em out. Can't say for sure if it's true or not but I don't want Poppy to mess up his teeth, get gingivitis or the heart break of psoriasis.

I nominate Poppy to be our forum mascot! With or without the tennis ball of course.

i keep them clean, so no grit. they're not real tennis balls anyway, they just look like them, and have a squeeker inside.

SHE doesn't clamp down hard enough to squeak indoors, but outdoors she squeaks it like mad.

+- last time i looked she is missing a few necessary parts, tho had she had the trio, he'd be missing two of them by now. she is missing some partsd internally however.

as you can see in t his one where she is in her brazen hussy mode. her girly hoo-haa is very fuzzy tho :)

What a sweet Miss. Nice futon, looks comfy. What's the weather overall by you? I was wondering if there is a park with trees nearby.

Love the Poppy belly, giver her some scritches from us and the chihuahuas.

:)

weather has been rotten for weeks. lots of low areas and tens of thousands of houses have been flooded and coastal areas and resorts washed away. luckily i'm on the reverse slope of a 300ft. hill from the local river/estuary (severn) and about 160 ft. above the level. it's only a couple miles away. there are parks/forests we can go to, but i'm waiting for the weather to get better. meanwhile our garden has a few trees, a weeping willow & a large oak. the gardener was picking up the broken branches today, he had a truckload. weather in some coastal areas is supposed to have 4 in. of rain with 100 mph winds tonite, the river thames is about toburst & flood even more tonite. the hill protects me tho. the garden is a bout 100ft x 100ft. so she has some room to run. no rabbits tho. :(

belly scritchies given. she loves them.

Yeah, Kronckew...you're smitten.

Poppy has you in love. Neat to see.

Btw, I don't see ANY collie in her, but don't know the fine points of Saluki attributes.

Congratulations on being such an excellent teacher of "fetch" that she picked it up almost immediately. :)

found this photo of an adult saluki male of her colouration) for comparison. i just noticed today she's
starting to grow black hair from the tips of her ears like him too.

Very nice print Krock! Looks just like her. Has she tried to get up on that table yet? Somehow doubt it but looks tempting. She seems to be a very well mannered girl.

yes, not normally, but she did get up there twice so far, when she saw a kitty-kat in 'her' garden, and when the neighbour from the next door flat and her Lhasa-apso dared enter it. she barked out the window at the invading doggie (she wants desperately to play with it, but she's too big & might accidentally hurt it). she barks at the pigeons and crows also, but doesn't get up on the table. she definitely wants to invite the kitty for dinner. she just normally looks out from the chair or sits in front of the table to look out.

Beautiful dog. She has a regal appearance when she's sitting up with that alert expression on her face.
