Anyone else notice this? I was reading the description of the Domino on BHQ today and found something interesting.

"Folding knife with "Kit Carson" flipper. Full flat ground CTS-XHP stainless steel blade. Handle is glass weave laminate G-10. RIL (Reeve Integral Lock) titanium frame lock mechanism. Reversible pocket clip."

They are specifically describing it is a laminate over G10. Is this in response to all the hubub over the carbon fiber a few months ago? Is this description written by BHQ or Spyderco?

IF it is written by Spyderco it is just another example of how Sal listens to the knife community and is forthright with information on his products, after hearing some people wanted this information.

I just found it interesting...

I believe MrBlonde's Spydercollector youtube vid on it featuring Eric Glesser mentions G10 glass weave laminate.

Yeah, I think Spyderco inspired, Eric actually stumbles through that part of the video and backs up to make sure he got it right. I found it sort of humorous when I first watched it. Who really cares anyway on a knife, I might if it were an aerospace application.

I can see how some people might feel mislead. If a knife is advertised as having CF scales but they're 95% G10 with a thin laminate over top, that's a bit misleading if you don't mention it. I don't think Spyderco did it intentionally to mislead people, but that's the end result. Personally I'd just assume it was solid G10, but I respect that they're making it clear on this new knife.

LOL... It better be full titanium if I'm getting on that thing to go to the moon!

Well, it's no wonder after the several threads asking a question which quickly turned into an all out crapbomb. The accusations flew and it went from zero to full blown stupid in a matter of posts.

pretty much if you dont like it send it to one of the knife pimpers and have it changed if not shut it and deal with it.

It's not "full" titan. It's 6Al4V. Gotta be careful these days ;)

LOL!!!

I don't care if it's laminate G10 or resin impregnated moon rocks brought back by Neal Armstrong himself... when that Domino comes out... I WANT ONE!!! :)

I don't really want to start the debate again, that was not my intention. I could care less whether it is laminate or full. I simply wanted to point out that based on user input they changed the way they describe the knife materials and I thought that was classy on Spyderco's part. That was my message, sorry if it didn't come across that way.

Hi Eschwebach,

I don't think anyone took it the wrong way. The whole thread was a fiasco. Most know little about carbon fiber and glass finer laminates. I think there are some that like to take any opportunity to bitch about us. Thanx for the kind words about our response. We still work for you and when you comment, we listen.

Thanks Sal! Keep churning out great knives. You've made me a life long fan.

Hey sal, what's the blade length looking like on the domino?

+1!!

Just saw the video on youtube and count me in for one!

First I had heard of this one, had to do some Google searching. Looks sweet and who can complain about another flipper option from Spyderco. I, for one, hope to see more flippers in the future lineup.

I can't find one online yet. I would make a guess at $300ish MSRP with a street price around $200, but I could be way off.

I don't care if it's made from the blood of the nonbelievers, I'm damn sure buying one.

That thing is friggin awesome looking and CTS-XHP is one of my favorite steels!
