DON HANSON Upscale Folding Dagger

The only thing I don't really like is the colored (titanium?) liners.
Hah! That's one of the things I like the most, hence why I chose to show it clearly.

And your preference is OK. It just illustrates how our tastes are so personal.

Best,

Coop

Wow Jonathan what a great project and fine addition to your collection, very nice Don

I've got this thing for daggers and ladder pattern damascus. This knife is off the charts and when I grow up I wanna be able to make a folder like this someday:D. Congratulations Jon, she's a real beauty.

Oh man, that is a GREAT piece. Congrats to you Jon, you have scored once again!

Don's got the juice for making super knives and Jon, this is a great thread.

Thanks guys. I'm proud to show this one. =) As Don said its great when an idea comes together like this..

Jon

That is a special piece.....but does Don ever make a "downscale" folder - haha :D
MIke, I agree that a nice ladder pattern looks the best on daggers...at least IMHO !

Don - I assume the gold screws are significantly "softer" than the standard - that ever give you a problem with threads holding or anything like that?

Bill

Bill, the gold screw are softer, but haven't had any trouble after the knife is finished.

Some choice words spoken while working w/gold screws though. ;)

I'll bet !!!

every teeny chip is probably $5 ...and you can't pick them up with a magnet :D

Here is the display. The new dagger with the older black lip dagger. Horrible photo, but look at those ladder pattern blades go!

Don, $270 for how much? Thanks everyone. I just had to bring this back one more time- hope your not sick of it.

Don Hanson makes really top-notch knives. I own a traditional slipjoint in stag from him

as well as this wharncliffe that I picked up from Jon

So there is a familiarity with the perception of delicacy in his workmanship, and a stout methodology of construction that makes for very unique, usable and aesthetically pleasing work.

Edited to add....I USE the wharnie....it gets IWB carried in suits and tuxedos coddled by a Paul Long clipcase of elephant hide, and has cut: mail, gift wrap, meat, seafood, tape, cardboard, plastic packaging, strapping....not a "hard use" knife, but lovely, handy, and most importantly excellent ambassador of custom knives for the sheeple.....you can have a William Henry "custom"/similar type of high end production or for a similar price something like this one-of-a-kind gem.

Congratulations, Jon, the two knives look beautiful in that display and I know you will enjoy them for quite some time to come.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

A bit late, maybe even overdue;), but here is my response. Great looking folding dagger, love the ivory and the steel is super. I'm a sucker for this type of damascus ever since Jim Schmidt!!

Well done everybody and Jon congrats with such a beautiful acquisition.

His knives are the inspiration behind me to get Ladder pattern blades more frequently.

Steven- that slip joint is GREAT looking. I miss that wharnie.
