Don, question on kit

The only thing wrong in the kit was that needles were rusty. The rest was petty good gear.

That's really hit and miss and I am fairly sure that I mentioned that in the kit article years ago and, if not, in the stand alone article on the Tracon fishing kit article. They needed to put a dessicant gel pack in there before they pulled the vacuum on it. My guess is that the red and yellow pieces of cloth held just enough moisture to rust the needles. I have opened these kits and some were in pristine condition, some rusted so bad I had to take a Dremel to save the sewing needles. And, by the way, they are worth saving. ;)

At about the same price does anyone have any thoughts/experience with the "pocket chain saw?" Heavier and bulkier but maybe less prone to break?

I doubt if that thing is going to break unless you deliberately set out to destroy it. :)

But that is the whole point, I said in that one post on the last page that the advertising was all wrong on wire saws. I always looked at them as very specialized tools and not a way of cutting firewood. I understand companies like BCB have shown them being used for those tasks but I just think that was stupid. Where they shine is making trap/triggers and other things of that sort. Making other tools, especially when you are talking about scrap metals and plastics you might find, etc.
