My experience with the fake military. I ordered 2 for around $35. They arrived today in a spyderco box and inside they were wrapped in something that looked like foil. The blades looked real good BUT after 5 minutes opening one, the liner lock failed and WILL NOT work. I looked the other one over and it had a missing screw in the handle, and a broken clip. I wasn't really mad because I knew they would probably be crappy. If they were even close to the quality of my other REAL SPYDERCO's , I would have got on here and told everyone. They were not even close to the BYRD's I own. They were the quality of the cheap tactical knives you see on the infomercial at best... I am only saying that because the actual blades were sharp as heck and looked like pretty good quality. Everything else sucked big time. I have now pieced together one knife from the two and threw it in my tackle box. I do own REAL spyderco's ( calypso jr, 6 byrd cara cara's, endure wave, matriarch, normal endure, some credit card looking byrd and a byrd robin) . To tell the truth I was really hoping these knives were good quality but oh well. Just spend the extra 3 dollars for the cara cara.
 
Not to be a dick, but why did you buy these? You can get cheap Chinese knives that are not fakes or even trying to be that would make great tackle box tools. Intentionally spending money on counterfeit Spydies just enforces their existence.

Agreed. Spending money on that stuff has a far reaching backlash that many people do not understand, or can't understand. I won't get into it here, but consider it a drop in a bucket.
 
I would of bought a mora and a rat with that money. EDC and bushcraft, all set...:thumbup:
 
the chinese kershaws and spidies are good knives for the same money need to buy a fake i say.
 
We pay a lot of bread to fight these guys. I must say I'm a bit disappinted that you would intentionally support them. It just keeps them going.

Clearly people buy these fakes. At least the OP is posting his negative experience which hopefully deters others.
 
We need some pics of them side by side with the differences pointed out since you bought it. The fakes from what I have seen are getting really good which is really scary.
 
There is a stickied thread on the Spyderco sub-forum dedicated to fake Spyderco's and how to spot them and not get duked.
 
If you want to feel up your drawer with knives to collect dust, buy them, they are nothing but crap without any quality or feeling to it, is like bad sex.

The reason they've gotten so good is because people keep doing exactly what your requesting..posting pics and pointing out all the differences between the real deal and the fakes..were telling the people that make them what they need to change to make the fakes even better..makes it easy for them.

Very confusing indeed. You already own Spydies and Byrds, so you know the quality. What were you expecting? You get what you pay for. My advice obviously is to just stick to the real thing, you'll be happier for it.

The problem is that he intentionally bought them knowing that they were fake. So he duked himself. Its sad that people need to make counterfeits to begin with, and its even more sad when people buy them.

That was for the guy asking for a place to discuss fakes not the op. I won't comment on the op.
