Where are you getting $70 from? The op stated he bought two fakes for $35. Still, it's just as bad.

Exactly...2 x $35 = $70.

So with the $70 he started with, he could have gotten the two fakes or one legit Spyderco. Does that make more sense? Or am I missing something?

The wording is ambiguous. You interpreted it as 2 for $35 each, others as 2 for $35 or $17.50 each. I'm not sure which it is, but if he had 70 to spend its even worse that he spent it on a fake. I think its great that at 13 you already know better regardless.

The op never stated each. So I assumed 2 for $35. Guess it could be interpreted either way.

The reason they've gotten so good is because people keep doing exactly what your requesting..posting pics and pointing out all the differences between the real deal and the fakes..were telling the people that make them what they need to change to make the fakes even better..makes it easy for them.

I don't think that showing the differences are going to change a thing for the fakers. All they need to do is place an order for a real one and try to reverse engineer it. I would imagine that would work better than pictures helping us tell the difference.

:eek:I agree with Sal about the original post, but let's discuss you responses please!:grumpy:

There is a stickied thread on the Spyderco sub-forum dedicated to fake Spyderco's and how to spot them and not get duked.

The problem is that he intentionally bought them knowing that they were fake. So he duked himself. Its sad that people need to make counterfeits to begin with, and its even more sad when people buy them.

My first name is Duke and as far as I know to "get duked" doesn't mean to be screwed over... :D Now sure according to some if you duke yourself you've pooped your pants, but lets not make any more definitions for my name please.

Anyone remember Roy Munson in Kingpin?

If you want to buy a car from a 6 car lot in a backlane somewhere from a guy in a plaid checkered suit to save a few bucks, rather than buying from a reputable, well known auto dealer, then you deserve the lemon you are gonna get. And sadly, keep that shyster in $$$ so he can fleece another fool.

I apologize... sort of :p Also, I think you can cross pooping your pants off the list, I believe it is a "dooky" What a side track this thread has become, oh well it was bound for the crapper from the beginning. I watched Kingpin, don't remember details about movies though. I know I laughed and Woody Harrelson is funny.

I'm sorry, I have to jump in here and vent. You come to the Spyderco sub forum, basically you come into Mr Glesser's house and say that you bought fake knives with his company's name on them. Not only do I think that is tacky, I think it actually crosses the line into disrespectful. We, as a forum, are very, very fortunate to have people like Mr. Glesser come on here and talk, discuss, and generally visit with the people that buy his company's products. Then the OP gets on and says "just want to report in on some fakes I bought."

Spyderco spends huge amounts of money to defend and protect their patents and copyrights. The OP just gave the counterfeiters money to fight back with. Tacky!!!

He did come in here and admit that he bought fakes. He also chose to publicly admit it was a mistake and encourage others not to repeat his mistake. Lot of folks berating the guy for his lack of class or whatever, but continuing to flog the guy after he owned his error isn't much better I reckon. He did it, admitted it, and encouraged others not to do the same. I doubt there's much to be gained from carrying on with this.

P.S. Hey Bill, sorry if that looked like a response to your post...it wasn't. Just my thoughts after watching the whole thread spiral downward.

With respect to others saying this thread is going south, it could be much worse and I think the tone is pretty tame. Someone doing the same on many other forums would receive a fair bit more flack. If there's any doubt, try going to the USN and posting you bought a fake Strider, Hinderer, Emerson or the like.
