The Entry Period Is now over. Please do not attempt to send me funds for the give-away.

The drawing will be tonight, as soon as I get time to download the recording software, record the video, and upload it to youtube. Stay Tuned!

Congratulations to Guy and Ellie!! Survive! Fans raised a total of $1,550 USD for the 'newly-weds' :) Thank you to all who participated!

Here's the details:

This fundraiser is dedicated to the Seiferds.
Guy Seiferd founded Survive! Knives (http://surviveknives.com/), a company dedicated to producing the highest quality production-level knives in the world while keeping the price affordable.
Ellie joined Survive! Knives as an employee to help Guy build his company. She moved across the country with him, from Pennsylvania to their current location in Idaho. Her work-ethic and dedication is witnessed by all who frequent the Survive! subforum on bladeforums.com: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/909-Survive!-Knives

Ellie and Guy were married about a month ago, unbeknownst to the online community of bladeforums, and have been working tirelessly at meeting deadlines and satisfying customers without ever taking the time for a honeymoon or vacation or recognizing their new official designation "married" and Ellie's name change to Seiferd.

But now that the news has reached fans of Survive! Knives, it seems fitting to offer congratulations to the couple! As such, this thread has been created to raise funds as a belated wedding-gift to Guy and Ellie. May they find peace and joy in each other as they traverse the myriad challenges of life, and may their time together be blessed.

The goal is to raise $1000 for Guy and Ellie. As part of this campaign, there is also a GIVE AWAY! Each donation of $10 USD will enter your name into a drawing to receive a rare product from Survive Knives!:

an Old-spec GSO-4.1 "test knife" sent to chiral.grolim / Chamdar17. The knife is made from CPM-3V steel heat-treated and finished in a special way to improve edge-performance and corrosion-resistance. This heat-treatment improves upon the industry standard used for the previous (pre-2016) knives from Survive!, but comes before the latest protocol being used for the new (2016) models with CPM-3V steel. Very few of these knives were made, it is a rare piece of Survive! Knives history.
It is also a highly functional piece of equipment, made from high quality materials and subjected to rigorous durability testing, demonstrating exceptional performance against other knives in its class. The handle scales are "camouflage canvas" micarta. The leather sheath is made by Sagewood Gear, designed for horizontal "scout" carry or vertical carry by means of the modular attachment pieces.
Market price for the sheath alone, new, would be $125+shipping. Market price for an old-spec GSO-4.1 in CPM-3V is ~$230.

Again, this knife+sheath is used, the knife experienced testing including and beyond what is shown in this video, and has since been resharpened: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tusmZwVfgM4
The knife was also used to butcher a couple of chickens and a whitetail. The sheath has been worn and carried.

Each $10-worth of transaction will be considered an entry into a drawing for the knife and sheath. Donations of $20 will be considered 2 entries, $30 = 3 entries, etc.
Donations will ONLY be collected via PayPal 'friends & family'.
Through your PayPal account, indicate that you are sending money to friends or family, include as the ONLY comments the words "Seiferd Wedding". You can add your Bladeforums username if desired, but you do not need to be a member of BF to participate. Let your friends know! Anyone with a Paypal account who can be contacted after the drawing can participate in the drawing. If you want to act as a proxy for someone, that is fine as well, include the name of the participant in the comments. No anonymous entrants, no withdrawing entries after the end of the drawing.

Please note, any transactions sent via "goods" will be refunded without your inclusion in the give-away.

The goal is to raise $1000 for the Seiferds, but I plan to hold the give-away open only until Easter (March 27th, 2016) with the drawing on March 28th, so you have two (2) weeks to get involved.

At the end of the two weeks, all transactions for this effort will be refunded, the details listed in this post will be removed.
I will then record my desktop as I calculate the total funds received in this endeavor and transfer it to Ellie via the S!K paypal address. I will also record transfer of the $10-transaction amounts with usernames onto an excel sheet, then transfer that list onto a randomizing list (https://www.random.org/lists/) and click 'Randomize' 12X - the name at the top of the list on the 12th click is the winner. I will send an e-mail to this individual requesting a mailing address and provide that individual with a tracking number for their prize.

That's it! To enter the drawing, simply send funds in multiples of $10 USD through this link (removed) and Thank you for your participation!

By the way, if we reach the $1000 goal, I will add a couple more prizes to be detailed in later posts.

Important note: I am undertaking this effort through my personal account so as to defray costs of using an outside fund-raising vendor. As such, do not participate if you do not trust the methods I have detailed above.

IMPORTANT EDIT, another knife has been added to the giveaway!

Guy and Ellie witnessed the generosity evinced in this thread and have presented me with a new, unused, Guy-sharpened, Pre-Production SK-4.7, not yet available for sale and steel not yet revealed. This... this is an awesome knife... I'll save further comments for the review-thread i intend to make, but here are pics:

Very nice of you to set this up and supply the knife and sheath. I'm new to survive knives and am patiently waiting to get my first one but from what I have read Survive is a great company, producing a great product, which in turn keeps them very busy. Guy and Ellie seem to be outstanding people, I wish them the best.

This is a nice gesture, thanks for the opportunity, I'm in.

I'm definitely in for this one, nice job CG. For any of the new guys here, deal in confidence, Chiral.grolim is as straight as they come. I hope we blow the top off that $1000 goal for Miss Ellie, or I guess I should say Mrs. Seiferd. :)

ETA: In!

Thanks Chiral for putting this together. Saying you are selfless and giving would be quite an understatement!

Between here and facebook, it would so cool to exceed the $1000 mark.

Yes, thank you chiral for taking on the administrative burden. I know Ellie will appreciate it.
It's the least we can do to repay her for all the time she spends here placating and helping us.

-money sent....

Word in, the facebook group doesn't allow this sort of thing, so the post is gone (at least, I couldn't find it again after I notified the admins that i posted it there, but I'm not much good at FB, so perhaps it just hid from me?). Hopefully folk here can spread the word.

You know I'm in, my favorite knife from my favorite knife company...wearing my favorite pants!!! and it helps a good cause!!!

Edit: funds sent.... Keep us apprised of the running total if we start running out of time and are close I bet ppl(me) could be convinced to throw in a few more tickets

Did you get specifics on the reasoning? Is it a Facebook-wide mandate or just the rules of that group? It seems odd that they couldn't make an exception. That is too bad, it would have been nice to have more participation to raise more money for our favorite couple.

I'd be in for that, too, if needed.

I'm in man. This is a great cause. Guy and ellie work tirelessly and deserve a honeymoon. I really hope we go way boyond 1000. The 4.1 old spec is also my favorite knife so having tbe chance to own one with the new heat treat is very exciting!

Edit: Gift sent, thank you CG.

Day 1 update, we've reached $350 total, which at least meets the originally intended asking price for the knife+sheath, so thank you to all for that  Not bad for the first day. I have no presence on Instagram but folk are free to direct people to this thread if they are interested in contributing.

Day 2 update, $440.

I did a test-run of the list randomizer on random.org, some of you have very lucky names!

Again, the post was removed from the facebook fan-site, I wasn't sure if the S!K facebook page would be an appropriate place to advertise the drawing, I have no presence on Instagram, and Bladeforums doesn't condone the drawing, but I encourage you all to message friends or individuals who might be interested with the details of the drawing. Again, no memberships required, you don't need to post in this thread, just follow the link in the OP and use the comment "Seiferd Wedding".

I'm not going to use my PP account for any other purpose until this ends so that y'all can see the page with the transactions when i send them out and transfer the names to the randomizer.

Does anyone think I should increase the randomizer clicks to five (5)? When i shuffle a deck of cards, i always shuffle at least 5X. Would anyone object if I modified the OP to reflect that? Or a preference for the number of clicks to generate the winner? 12?
