Don't Call it a Pocketknife? Ignorance and Prejudice on Display

Why hurt yourself and read anything Bloomberg puts out? They haven't had a news story since Clinton was in office. :)
- IMO, you should always read what hoplophobes write about. They use emotion to sway the general population, which in turn can result in ridiculous laws being passed. Take a look at how the anti-gun organizations frame their arguments.

There are two types of people in the world:

1. Those who don't like something, so they just don't have anything to do with it.

2. Those who don't like something, and want to ban it so no one can have anything to do with it.

I'm sorry but I don't have a Garçon to spoon feed me. I actually cut some of my food when I want to eat out. I will keep carrying my knife, thank you.

I am constantly reminded of how lucky I am to live in the great state of Texas.

I'm seriously getting tired of this. Perhaps it's time we take a page from the enemy's playbook, and use it against them.

Some years ago, a writer for an outdoor magazine by the name of Jim Zumbo made some less than intelligent comments about hunting rifles. The fallout was swift and overwhelming, and Mr. Zumbo quickly had to apologize for his line of thought. Perhaps we should approach Bloomberg News with the same furor and outrage in response to this stupidity, and make it clear that a significant portion of the country won't tolerate it.

Get used to it. So many people I run into that have a pocket knife say they could care less about guns. Both knife and gun rights have to be supported at local and state levels. Banners are set to go after knives because they see they have lost a lot of the gun legislation. Kniferights is doing a great job!

Looks like a head of cabbage to me. Surprised he not the sort who that believe cabbages have feelings.

Yeah, I think maybe you're right. I was far too thirsty for my own good last night which precipitated into brain functioning at around 25% when I first saw it. Even now it looks sorta fake but it still has feelings, dammit.

Call me old fashion
But What I edc is no Pocket Excalibur...
Personal responsibility for the ownership and use of any knife
In and out of any home, is mostly universally expected and honoured
By all users who are well aware of the dangers it entails.
One can never hope to coax an entire world to a set scheme of things.
Except in the imaginary dominion of an imaginary dictatorship...

Wow that article was terrible on multiple levels. It was like the Author had an obligation to write an article but stayed up partying all night, woke up, looked at his watch, crapped his pants and spit out this sloped together monstrosity. His high school English teacher should take the next flight to NYC and kick his ass.

Use a knife to open wine?
No need if it's Boone Farm or Mad Dogg 20/20!
Ain't nobody got time for fancy wine!!!

You know this guy writes in damp shorts, a bow tie and med-alert bracelets....

Having read the "article" it's really just a list of knives you may want to buy. The preface that it's for use at home because of all the security checkpoints these days is realistic in NYC -- remember, you can't just leave your knife in your car because you don't have a car.

I'm all for zero restrictions on blade carry but let's not get anything bunched over this piece.

That's true, but the idea of using a euphemized term to satisfy the thought police bothered me.

Wow, I'm going to do an article on some knives and recommend people get one. Oh, but don't carry it or use it...and make sure its got something really pretty when you use it to open a bottle of wine so your friends know you have money to waste on things you know nothing about(cuz THATS what he thinks the main task of a knife is lol). They already have stay at home knives, they're called kitchen knives idiot. The entire point of a knife folding is to make it more portable. And hell, if it was allowed I'd walk around w a bowie on my waist anyway. Man, and what the heck was the point of that article anyway? Luckily it is so bad no one with a half a brain could take that seriously! The comments are great...every single one recognizing the author's idiocy! Lol

That's true, but the idea of using a euphemized term to satisfy the thought police bothered me. It was like anti-abortion people calling themselves pro-life because of "negative connotations of the word "anti"", and them pro-abortion people responding by calling themselves pro-choice. Lets not go down that road, here's plenty of other examples of the marketing of 'Merica.

Don't confuse General Knife Discussion for the Politcal Arena, very, very different places. Drawing analogies is tricky, especially when one uses political hot button issues. Best not to go there.

You're right. I knew that was hot button when I did it, best not to bring it up even not taking a side. I hope I made it good'er.
