Don't know what to think about this.

Yeah.

I guess it's like Gilette's new Titanium blades: not the best material for that job, but it sounds good.

Can you imagine that people buy these because there is titanium in there? I'm at a loss for words to express how silly I find this campagne. Then again, most shaving systems are gimiks.

And the World's best hamburger, the most sold, is not the best. Yes, we've eaten a lot of Big Macs and Quarter Pounders, but that doesn't make them King.

I don't understand the weight claim. It's wrong on it's face; why would anyone say it? Uinformed or negligent?

But, let's not bad mouth, as Bill would have it. We just seem to agree the claims are hghly suspicious.

Chubs is willing to have his over-priced KLO pimped by a fraud?

one of the references there says the gurkhas did not take part in the falklands war to disprove some of gyi's references to them there, however see This Linky and googling 'gurkha falklands war' brings up many references to their participation. the other stuff seems damning, but how accurate? is the site a bit predjudiced? he may be a crook but the expose should be more accurate.

You know I just don't understand something for 600 with a rubber handle.

I posted about this same thing somewhere else.

I would love to see a US produced khuk out of good carbon steel with a guaranteed great temper and convex edge and a totally uncrackable unbreakable handle out of a solid block of micarta or G10. But US makers either make super expensive crap like this or super light pointy khuks not really suitable for heavy chopping:thumbdn:

To follow Uncle Bill's injunction, I will say nothing about the product. But I COULD say lots about the huckster.

And HD, you KNOW something along those lines is in the works -- oh . . . . somewhere.

I have owned a variety of Cold Steel knives: throwers, folders, small knives, full-sized combat knives, in addition to "other" items such as shovels, 'hawks, and and spears. And one KLO. ;)

I *might* still have a CS "spetsnaz shovel" somewhere. I think that's it. And I saw a Bushman broken when used as a throwing knife.

What was it that Bill said? If it doesn't rust, don't trust it? There are some great stainless steels out there, but not for khukuris.

oh, i dunno. if fallkniven maded a khukri, it would cost $500, have an edge that was rc62, and would quite likely kick ass.

how about an L6 bainite khukri blade? i'd bet ya a dollar that would kick ass :)

No stainless steel seems to have the potential for impact resistance of 5160 ("potential" 'cause any steel can be improperly heat-treated for the application. Lots of examples of that with S30V "super steel."). Look to industrial applications.

L6 would make a very impact-resistant blade (jackhammer bits, right?).

I could get a really nice chit, a tattoo, some new tires and still get the alignment done on the old Mazda. Hmmm...

I study to become an engineer, was in Physics, now I'm in Metallurgy and Materials.

What we learn about the choice of a material is: "Make sure it does the job, but also make sure to keep it as cheap as possible. Even if that material would be perfect, the client will be happier if you choose this one that is a little less efficient, but half of the price".

So, recycled leaf spring or San Mai?

I made my choice: to recycle old material instead of throwing it in a dump and help some knifemakers from a really poor country.

yep, one more busse in the world makes little difference, even to busse (they all look the same to me anyhow), one more kukhri from HI means a family eats for a month. no brainer.
