Don't order anything if you can't pay. Better read.

I think probably the ''Honest Man" sticky might be
a "calling all thieves" signpost.

Maybe should unstick it.

I agree. Predators will see UB as a "sucker/mark" not the good guy we all know him to be. :(

It’s unbelievable to read that people are doing this to Uncle Bill. Clearly these are people that either don’t know him, or people so twisted that they don’t care about him.

I was talking to an American woman several years ago in Oaxaca,Mexico who had given up on fighting for the things she needed and had resigned herself to living on a $300 a month disability pension in Mexico.

She was a comsumate conversationalist and made this comment about her life in cities like New York,Los Angeles.

She said that when you leave the rural/country folk and enter the cities you will find people devolve back to three primary characteristics:

First --they become avaricious
Second--they become inconsiderate
third---they become predatory

and there's a lot of truth in her words.

You put too many chickens in too small of a coop even with enough food and you get the same thing. It's just a fact of nature.

Life tends to be a real shame.

Look to nature...there are no merciful animals. :(

I am irked that people are betraying Bill's good nature. I've bought a lot of HI khuks (25?), but I do not mind waiting for payment to clear if that's what it's come down to. It's a damn shame.

Hollow...<yawn>...you still at work waitin' for those recycles too? I fell asleep and have a backwards keyboard imprint on my face. I raided the office pretzle jar, not much left at the end of the week. I checked the office fridge...got the half bologna sandwich in there and the leftover birthday cake...kinda dry, but pretty filling. How do you tell if yoghurt has gone bad? It was in Tupperware...either that or it was someone's veggie dip. I didn't know they made anchovie flavored veggie dip though. Lucky for me the water guy delivered on Friday as I got the last soda out of the machine, and I think the half can of Dr. Pepper was...hang on...yup...it was bad. Fortunately the restroom is close by. Did I miss the recycle sale while I was in the can?

Nasty! HD! I am very disappointed with the way you are pestering Uncle for a clearance sale! (Because it hasn't worked yet.) Shame on you for circling like vultures! (You're blocking my view while I circle.) Ah, who am I kiddin'? I think I'll have to sell a kidney if I buy one more Khuk this month. :p

HD...You hear that? Mac the Baptist has a spare kidney we can harve...er...borrow!

I'm truly sorry to hear about this trust being abused. Being able to engage in transactions of this nature "on your honor" has been a wonderfully refreshing experience. The last time I had this sort of scenario was back in prep-school where we had an honor code. Nobody was allowed to put a lock on their locker (as an example of what it was like); and nobody molested your stuff. I had a couple of times where I left my lunch money (cash) on the top shelf of my locker, in plain view, with the door hanging open. Nobody ever stole it.

Eventually a brother and sister transferred into our school and started stealing things from people's lockers. It was amazing just how affronted and pissed EVERYBODY was over the situation. We all valued that sense of trust and security that we had. The same goes for here. Some folks have simply had brainfarts due to life. Others are just dishonorable thieves.

I'm sorry to see that Uncle Bill and his family has had their trust abused by a few rotten apples. :grumpy:

Wow, Scumbags ripping of a man in his 70s with cancer & his wife? That is low.

Bill, I Hope you publish thier names & address {inc.emails, phone numbers etc. ;) } for all to see at the very least.

If any are accidents or forgetful people then they can sort it out.

Cant saying "the cheques in the post" or similar be classed as postal fraud? I would guess thats a federal offence.

Just a thought,

Spiral

Uncle bill there is no better collection agency then 19 or 20 guys showing up in your drive way like Ray Leota in Good Fellas with love in their hearts and a Khukuri in their hand's demanding payment in full or at least a good trade

One has only to use the search function of the forum to come upon many examples of Uncle Bill's generosity, trust and integrity. It's really unfortunate that a few unscrupulous individuals have caused Uncle Bill to post what he did. I've spoken with Yangdu, and she too, has Uncle Bill's admirable qualities.

Oftentimes forumites mention karma in their posts. The guys who "took advantage" of U.B.'s good nature will, sooner of later, bring into play the consequences of their actions. Not that U.B. or H.I.'s forumites even wish justice served; it's just how the Universe works... Hope valuable lessons are learned. Best wishes...

Dan :)

Hey...*I* wish Justice served. I'm even willing to help it get to the table...

You're "one of the consequences coming into play", which I mentioned in my above post, Nasty! ;) :D
