A young reporter went to a retirement home to interview an aged but legendary explorer. The reporter asked the old man to tell him the most frightening experience he had ever had.

The old explorer said, "Once I was hunting Bengal tigers in the jungles of India. I was on a narrow path and my faithful native gun bearer was behind me. Suddenly the largest tiger I have ever seen leaped onto the path in front of us. I turned to get my weapon only to find the native had fled. The tiger leaped toward me with a mighty ROARRRR! I just soiled myself."

The reporter said, "Under those circumstances anyone would have done the same."

The old explorer said, "No, not back then - just now when I went ''''ROARRRR!''''"

A strong young man at a construction site was bragging that he could out do anyone in a feat of strength. He made a special case of making fun of one of the older workmen. After several minutes, the older worker had enough.

'Why don't you put your money where your mouth is,' he said.

'I will bet a week's wages that I can haul something in a wheelbarrow over to that building that you won't be able to wheel back.

'You're on, old man,' the braggart replied. Let's see you do it.'

The old man reached out and grabbed the wheelbarrow by the handles.

Then, nodding to the young man, he Said,

'All right, Dumb Ass, get in.'

My buddy up in Chicago sent me this picture:

And said "Yum, lunch." Mind you this is a guy who got married and became INSTANTLY whipped. His wife made him stop eating pizza, go vegatarian 5 days a week, eat salads twice a day, only eat turkey bacon, no sausage is allowed in the house, etc.

So my response to that was "So glad to know you still have the testicular fortitude to be able to enjoy such a manly looking sandwhich"

Why is there no sauerkraut on that sandwich? Fail.

Picked up a Coopers Hawk this afternoon. He was sick or hurt but he sure didn't like being picked up. Never been been that close to a hawk in the woods. Pretty cool. Off to Birds of Prey Center.

That is cool, birds of prey are my favorite animals.. have always loved them since I saw a demonstration when I was in like 3rd grade. Eagles, hawks, African buzzard, falcons.. The peregrine falcon was the coolest thing I had ever seen.. The falconer had him diving in and out of the seating area, they dive at like 180 mph..
Hope that little guy gets well soon..

I dont know much about the different species but I saw a small falcon or hawk kill a pigeon at my neighbors bird feeder. The falcon looked like the one in your pic but it was slightly smaller than the pigeon. The pigeon didnt die right away and drug it around a bit trying to fly until the falcon got it finished off. Was a cool thing to see from so close.

Wow! Good for you man! I hope it has a full recovery and can be released back into the wild.

Thanks for helping that bird out. In the long run he will appreciate it.

very cool. there are a few eagles in my area right now. i haven't seen them myself but all the "birders" are out in full force.

When I was in Ohio and Michigan back in October, we visited my sister in law outside of Cleveland.. She took us down to Lake Erie and as I was standing on the shore trying to get a good pic of the breakers coming in an eagle flew right in front of us.. my stupid phone camera wouldn't focus in time to get a nice pic.. but you can barely see him in the upper left side of this shot as he started to fly by us...

As he flew by you could see he had a fish in his claws... It was pretty damn awesome.

He's a gorgeous bird, here's hoping for a full recovery! The woman at the center said they'd give me updates as to it's recovery status :)

Good on ya for getting a picture at all! We get lots of Ospreys and the occasional Bald Eagle in the tidal pond that's our back yard...I love watching the Osprey's fishing; they kinda hover when they spot something and then dive, when they lift off from the water the first order of business is to get the fish oriented so it's head first. So they're flapping hard to gain altitude at the same time they're playing footsies with this fish, trying to get both talons locked in (and they do "lock", they've got this zip-tie sort of arrangement between their tendons and the tendon sheaths so no effort once the talons are closed) so that they end up flying away looking as if they're riding a fish skateboard.

That is a gorgeous Cooper's, G&B, I hope your raptor center can help him/her out. Good on you for stopping and doing something; a lot of people would have just left it.
