Every thing looks nice and green over there still!

The water/sky pic is really cool!

Yeah that water/sky one is really cool!

I'm glad you're liking that WSK so much, that's pretty cool too.

I recently read the "owner's manual" for the Tracker and while it makes a good case for its design, I just can't for the life of me warm up to that knife. But if you're happy I'm happy :D

The clouds in the water really is an amazing shot :thumbup::thumbup:

I like that shot with the log and water. Whatever has gotten Maisy's attention, it has mine too!

If the day ever comes that the Northwest isn't green, I'll believe in Global Warming.

Great pics as expected! Maisy looks happier.

I have to tell you, pitdog, I was a little bit afraid to open this thread...........

Anyway, nice pictures as always. You're proving what I've long suspected that the Tracker isn't nearly as bad as a lot of people believe.

Hmmm maybe somebody should start a Tracker regrinding service! lol.

What ever happened to the guy here who was going to sell Tracker blade blanks?

If someone sold a Tracker blade blank in a good carbon steel (without sawteeth) for 50-100$ i'd be tempted to buy one just to try it out.

pitdog, honestly that knife is no good, too shiny for ya man send'er my way. :D

I really don't see how you arrive at that conclusion. Not only can I see no such proof, I can't even see much in the way of gentle support. I've been very reserved in this regard for the single reason that knife was a gift. I'm not in the habit of attacking items people give as gifts. And I certainly wouldn't want to do it to a gift Horn Dog gave 'cos I value the guy. However, that, the definite article, places me in a bit of a bind. Indulge me for a moment by imagining that tool was of unknown history:

What have we seen it do? I commented on the weight of it being approximately similar to the ax I have been using recently in post # 11 here. It would be dumb just to rehash the baton thread again, but it is worth noting that beyond size X wood the baton technique loses out as diminishing returns kick in. You can do it, similarly you can eat soup with a fork if you try hard enough, but it's a lot more effort. On that, to carry a tool that heavy surely you'd want it to do more that what can be done with a smaller lighter knife and a bashing stick, namely chop well. Do we have any evidence of that?

At the moment all I can testify to is that when reground, quite distinct from just sharpening, it can make good fuzz sticks. I've got folders that weigh a couple of ounces that will do that, and I'm confident that for such a limited trial episode Horn Dog could have ground a spoon to a shape that would do it.

As I said, I'm not in the habit of attacking presents people give, and I feel I'm already on such precarious ground with this post that it should be my last. In mitigation though, that tool aint unique and I wouldn't want someone to draw conclusions about the others on the basis of alleged proofs that I just don't see exist.

Anyway, enough from me.

I'm not certain it was him, but if it was RedScorpion6 you are thinking of - he got banned. He was front end of some shite he was getting in from somewhere else and claiming he'd made.

You know you're asking for another "Let's make baldtaco-II puke" thread, don't you? :D

Let me rephrase, "You're proving to me what I've long suspected that the Tracker isn't nearly as bad as a lot of people believe."

How is he doing this, no doubt you're going to ask. Well to listen to a lot of people, the Tracker is as useful as a sharpened spoon. Pitdog, not one to speak anything but his mind, has found it to be a useful tool. Maybe not the best, but useful, none the less. Therefore, having respect for his opinion, he has proven to me, that the Tracker isn't nearly as bad as a lot of people believe.

Next question.

I love the idea of a hatchet, knife and saw all in one tool. No matter what you think of the design, it can't help but be a useful tool. But for the weight I'd rather carry an 8 inch silky saw and a 4-5 inch knife I can safely baton with.

I should never reply on here when I'm full to the brim with beer, but anyway !

Baldtaco am I right in remembering that you are from the UK so folders are all ya can carry anyway ? Sorry bro only messin with ya !!!!:D

I'm not trying to convince anyone to buy a Tracker in fact I like the fact that I am one of the only ones on here that can post pics of one so let's keep it that way !!!
All I will say is you show me a knife of the same length that will out chop it. You show me a knife of that same thickness that will make better fuzz-sticks. You show me a knife that can make better notches for trap making etc !!!!
Sure an axe will chop better, a chain saw will cope better than an axe !
Sure a Mora will out slice it ( though not by much ) but as a one tool do-it-all knife it takes some beating and I can't thank Horn-dog enough for letting me find this out !!!!;)

I just received an RS6 Raven and ESK that you would like better than the Tracker. Handle fits better and they both slice very well. I bet with the grind redone on the Tracker helped but I still put my money in the RS6 models. I love WSK's.

Great shots pit. Im glad you seem to be showin that tracker love. Its good to see someones unused blades get new life!
