Doug Ritter for my next Becker? Thoughts?

So, I've been looking long and hard at the Becker line. I have the BK2 & the BK7. At some point I know that I will get the BK9. Just not yet.

But, for now, the Doug Ritter RSK® Mk2 Perseverance is mighty appealing as my next Becker.

I have both his Benchmade mini RSK Mk2 & his full sized version, both with stone washed S30V blades. They are among my favorite knives, especially the mini.

What are your thoughts? Anyone have one?

I've been debating the order of one of these for weeks. Very awesome looking blade for sure. It's just too bad the price isn't in line with the rest of the becker line.

Its a heck of a knife from what I hear. I have held one but not used one. Tip is in line with the center of the handle which makes it a great driller. Rowan heat treat, Becker/Ritter Design, and if you leave the original scales on it, it has the cool balancing system.
Everyone who has one seems to like it quite a bit, but I will agree, that I wish they made a basic version without the plugs that was a little less money. Compared to other Becker knives the price points a little high. I do think its most likely totally worth the cost though. I havent heard a single complaint about it from anyone besides the price. Its a little longer than the 2 or the 10 thinner than the 2, so lighter and slicier. Seems to me like its pretty much a pairing of the best things about two of the best loved knives in this size range. I cant imagine that it could be a choice that you would regret.

I think it is an awesome design and feels great in the hand. Now that said, mine is still in pristine condition. It is actually the only knife that I own that I haven't used... an I think I'm gonna keep it that way.

I've been looking at this for months now. I'd love to see one in person. I have a feeling if I did get to feel one I'd have to pick it up. How is the upkeep on it?

It looks like an awesome knife and I'm sure it's worth every penny but I can get a BK10 or BK7 for half the price. A little grinding can get it to a drop point if you like.

I really like the Ritter. I do not own one but I got to check out Geek's at the NE Beckerhead gathering. I plan on picking one up at some point.

I have said it before but, I think this blade shape would be great in a Tweener size without the thumb ramp.

still on the fence. I dont doubt it is probably a great knife but I have a lot that are not getting used. Lostviking, what hapn to that 2nd 10 in the shot? did it come like that or did you raise the grind & re-coat?

I have a 12 and love it. Great weight and blade shape. I took the weights out of the handle. I am on a budget so I wont be getting the micarta handles. I have got mine in the vice right now customizing it. Also going to make the handles thinner so I can add some liners. The only thing I didn't like was the sheath, but I really don't like any production model sheaths. I cut a 60 foot fence row of vines and weeds down a few days after I got it. Then went camping, where we *cough* forgot to bring a kitchen knife. So I cut up onions, sausage, bell peppers and some carrots with it. The more I use and abuse mine, the more I like it.

That's the way it came, original Camillus, as opposed to the newer limited release from Ka-Bar on top.

There's something to be said about that Idaho Falls Rowen made blade. As a side note, if you look at the TOPS Mil-SPIE 3 blade, it's virtually identical to the Rowen manufactured Ritter; of course, the TOP's blade was originally manufactured for TOPS by Rowen before TOPS decided to manufacture 100% of their blades in house.

The blade does look very similar, but the handle looks way different. One thing about Beckers, their handles just plain work. Although most of mine are micarta, the design is excellent. Good grip, no hotspots!

Yes, that's why I mentioned blade only.

If they threw us a bone and included micarta for the asking price, I would call the pricing "competitive" and I would own one.
