DOUG RITTER HOGUE RSK MK1 G-2

Received mine a few days ago (Orange G10 and 20CV)
Ergo is even better that the Benchmade Ritter / Griptilian.
Small tweaks in the internal design and improvements compared to the Benchmade Ritter.
Grind was surprisingly *very* well done and even.

Received mine as a Christmas gift, steel was not the 20cv as advertised, but M390. I know they are chemically the same, but I wanted the 20cv as I've had such outstanding success sharpening it and edge retention, even better than my M390 blades. I'm trying to return it to Knifeworks as their site incorrectly states that 20cv is the steel for the blade.

I am sorry you are upset, but the reason you didn't get a response is that Roger gave his employees the day after Christmas off since they had worked until mid-night Christmas Eve. As such, there was nobody there to respond. As for the M390 vs 20CV, if you want an exchange or credit, that's not a problem. Not sure how that happened, but the change to 20CV was a running change, since they are interchangeable steels from our perspective, and its possible some leftover M390s were left in stock when the change occurred. In any case, they are in the office today, just call toll free 888-225-9775 and ask for Ashley and she will take care of a cost-free exchange or credit.

I honestly never seen anyone who preferred 20CV over M390, not to mention being upset over a Christmas gift like that just because of the steel(which many perceived as superior). I can tell you that the M390 version you have is gonna be more collectible than the 20CV since it’s discontinued. it would have been a pleasant surprise for many people.
Why go through the trouble just to get a replacement(I hope you are not returning a gift for money) that’s essentially the same?
Sincerely hope this didn’t ruin your Christmas, and perhaps appreciate what you have a bit more.

I don't understand. They're the same steel, almost certainly heat treated the exact same way by the same company. Just because you've enjoyed 20CV over M390 when comparing different knives from different companies with different heat treatment protocols doesn't mean there is a difference between the two.

I agree with marrenmiller. If given the same heat treat, as they should have since they both come from Hogue, it would be pretty hard to tell any difference between the two. I would regard them as completely equal in this case. If they were heat treated differently it would be a different story.

After owning both sm & lg Ritter Grips, I ordered mine as soon as I could. It came in w/ black hardware. Was it supposed to be black? Nope. Did I mind? Oh hell no. I liked it better. Pleasantly surprised. Arrow clip add'd by me.

I use the bugout clip for mine. The short deep carry clip is IMO the most perfect clip Benchmade made.

Been eyeing this hogue ritter for a while now and heard nothing but good things mostly so far. How does the handle compare to the griptilian? Same thickness? I find the stock griptilian scales/handle a little thick in pocket although hand filling. How are the hogue scales in/out the pocket with all the milling on the G10? Sure looks nice and grippy i bet. As far as the blade what about BTE thickness, is it similar to the griptilian?

There are some vids on BoobTube for exact measurements. I didn't find the thickness a problem. I do find the Houge G10 to have better texturing than the G10 on the BM.

Not a problem for me.

Again, Boobtube has a few reviewers measuring the blades. I do remember them saying it's fairly thin & makes for a very good slicer. I haven't had a problem when giving it tha bizness.

The hogue ritter handle is not thinner than BM griptilian. I actually wish it is a bit thinner. I also wish the sun burst g10 is polished a bit more, and the lanyard hole is positioned the same as gen 1. But these are just nitpicking. My major pet peeve however is the pocket clip. It creates a hot spot on my palm. A BM clip would take are of the business though. I am sure a mxggear clip will work better too.

I had the same issue. I found that an Emerson clip worked wonders and made the knife extremely comfortable.
