Douk-Douk Question

I j7st ordered small douk douk as i have large one. Will carry it in wallet,I use my opinels for food cutting mainly, and for that purpose are excellent, but larger sizes are harder to carry in pocket.6 and 7 are ok for edc.

There is a new Opi 10 on my desk, just waiting to be carved, ground, whittled, and sanded on to see if it can be made congenial for pocket carry. Failing that, I will try to turn it into something arty or crafty, which will be difficult for me given my complete lack of imagination. Maybe I will try using the Douk-Douk to cut it down.

I edc 6 or 7,but use other ones for kitchen food prep and around house stuff.no8 garden knife is not hard to carry either, handle is same like in slim m9dels and blade nice sandvik, spear point. For price theyre more than decent, and cut way better than tactical style folders

I accidentally tipped the knife but reprofiled with my Leatherman file and got it back to hair popping with my Sharpmaker. Has taken a nice patina from cutting fruits. Love it!

Carbon steel blade and black handle is classic setup. But that black oxide on handle is very vunerable, I removed it with ferric chloride after it was touched by limon juice.

Mine is also modifed on back of the handle, so mind that.
my god man thats a sweet set-up

Hi!! So far, not many! I have an Opinel 8, as well as a vintage Case Barlow. I’m going to get a Buck 110 in due time, but first must use and experience the Douk-Douk! :)
If your going to get a 110 you couldn't have picked a better time ,your living in the golden age of Buck knives-they are coming out with spectacular offerings in steel configurations from carbon to supersteel

Hey All,
I just bought Le Tiki on Amazon but its not branded Modele Depose under the tiki.
Its the smaller version with black blade and I saw a pic on the post by Herison on page 2 and wanted to confirm its not a fake before I return it.
The blade is a little over 3.5 inches and I thought that was the larger of the 2 but their image shows with stamp. *Edited to add it did not come in a box only a plastic sleeve wrapper, not sure how they are supposed to arrive, first one.
Thanks

Has anyone mentioned the Douk-Douk Le Thiers yet? I've got the ebony wood variant, and it's the perfect traditional folder for my grip. 5 1/8 closed, 3 7/8 blade. Nice curvature and hand-filling without being bulky. Love it!

Here is what the insert says that came with the knife. It suggests that at the very least it's a compliment to the Douk-Douk range. The English is not fantastic but that's neither here nor there..

I'mSoSharp I'mSoSharp this was supposed to be a reply to your last post fyi.

At the bottom of this page you'll find similar knives (but not an ebony model) with the names Cognet company uses for them.

Your knife is very nice, a Douk Douk it is not.
I'm going to back pedal a tiny bit & say a traditional Douk Douk it is not. I imagine since the dirt cheap Douk has gained so much web popularity over recent years Cognet is using it to draw attention to other models.

I believe we've reached an impasse.

I was happy to find a traditional in this style that was larger than the standard Douk-Douk but smaller than "Le Geant". I researched this thing to death and I know what you're saying about the maker and such. But the documentation that came with the blade has the Douk-Douk name all over it, so I'm satisfied with that. Whether it falls strictly under your definition of Douk-Douk is of no consequence to me.

Fine with me too, you are free to believe whatever you wish. Douk Douk isn't my definition.
It says on the Cognet page I linked to in the post above that your knife was inspired by the Douk Douk.
If you look up the history of the Douk Douk you'll see it was made as a dirt cheap metal folded knife for the French owned African colonies.
Your knife is NOT a traditional Douk Douk, it's made by the same company who made/makes Douk Douks.

Glad that got sorted since I bumped this thread from 2019.
🤪
Anyone able to answer my question?

Sorry G3 G3 should have answered your post.
Edit- Your Tiki is a large one at 3.5".
I have a genuine small one at just over 2.5" with no "modele depose".
Images online show the larger one with that marking, you calling it small threw me.
