Douk-Douk Question

Thank you for the reply.
I thought the large has the marking and smaller does not so thought that may have been what I have.
Size is correct but missing stamp has me questioning the authenticity especially from Amazon.
However you are telling me the larger version is the size I have based on measurements but mine has no Modele Depose.
Think its legit?

Yes, I thought you had the small until I realised the blade size. It seems you're correct regarding the markings, large with, small without going by reputable site images.
Maybe question the seller pointing that out & see what they say?

Re-issued return.
Just going to get from BHQ. Only reason I used Amazon was faster shipping.
Thanks.

If you go to my posts 29 and 32 you will see the diversity of markings on original Douks. The "modèle déposé" marking was not a standard or proof of authenticity. I actually doubt anybody ever cared to copy such an affordable knife.

Really interested posts herisson herisson .

I actually doubt anybody ever cared to copy such an affordable knife.

Regarding copies of Douk Douks I haven't yet come across one but they do exist, I agree it's surprising that someone would copy such an affordable knife but I have seen copies of the South African Okapi another classic affordable knife, online there are plenty being touted as the real thing, thread here - https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/fake-okapi-knives.1562929/

Sadly the Spanish market is being flooded with fakes of the Solsona Pallares which is also inexpensive, branded Solsona Palles instead they look near identical, these knives are like the Sodbuster of northern Spain, very sad.

It appears fakes are nothing new.......

Refuse any imitations. https://knives-of-france-blog.com/douk-douk-history/

So many copied/fake Douk Douks- https://www.lecouteau.info/couteaux-régionaux-traditionnels/le-douk-douk-et-ses-frères/les-copies-de-douk-douk/

Surprising, but when money's involved........

I hear you, and I am a fan and customer of Pallares knives... Very sad.
On the other hand, if the spelling is not right don't you know something is fishy ?

Thanks all.
With all the counterfeit products floating around amazon, I would not be surprised if someone chose to take 50 cents of materials and charge $27 for a fake product.
I think the fact its a popular but 'cheap' knife is a prime (no pun intended) reason why they do it.
Since the size matched the larger model of tiki but did not have the stamp, it goes against every image I've seen except in this thread but of a smaller model.
When i submitted to Amazon as counterfeit they asked me a few other questions regarding why and I stated what the issue was.

Interesting to note: If you live in NY, most 'knife' related sales are restricted but there are ways to find listings that aren't restricted, depending on their wording.
This purchase as one of those so its possible the source is questionable.

Yes I do, but from a distance to me they look identical & the average buyer just wants a cheap folder & they aren't as knowledgeable as us or even care.
The fake knives are OK knives, I've handled them as they're available in many shops, the shop owners will tell you they are made in the north of Spain or they'll even say Solsona, some I suspect know they are fake & some don't, they don't question the different markings because it's a similar name, maybe a new mark, they think nobody would bother copying such a cheap knife!..........

Very off topic but the same principle, we've all heard of counterfeit bank notes but what about coins.... https://www.andalucia.com/news/cdsn/2004-05-05.htm. From a few years ago near where I live. Who'd expect counterfeit coins?
