I'll spare everyone the sob story ;)... But I think a good chopper and a nice lake hike will cheer me up. Plus I need something now because the wait on my RMD is killing me! What do you guys suggest for chopping? Yes I have an axe... :p

SYKCO 911 is a great suggestion or for a more affordable option a Becker BK9 fits the bill for me. Get out and chop some stuff and clear your head bro.

In my opinion a kukri is the best chopper...pick any u like and fits your budget..

Let us know what you get! Post a pic!

Are you going to buy it today and if so where at so I can help with your choices.

I was just at wally world and even though I will not buy the new Camilus stuff I did handle the Tac Tool that was hanging on the shelf and I have to admit that the handle turned me on. I dont know what it is made of but it is very soft and felt really good. It also had a pattern of flowers and stuff on it. Kind of weird.

If you have to get it today and the local supercenter is the only place to shop then get a Winchester Bowie for $19.99 and go beat the crap out of it and take lots of pictures and tell us how it held up.

Other than that I would order a BK9.

I just got a Cuma combat ready battle cleaver . Many people have looked down on it for some of the same reasons they don't like Cold Steel, however, I think it is a sleeper hit. The steel is super tough 5160, the chisel tip keeps the maximum amount of weight forward ( as opposed to a point) and the offset handle allows good chopping and to be used as a draw knife. For the 50 bucks it costs check it out.

I won't be able to make It too the lake till next weekend! Maybe ill get a cheap one with my nicer blade an beat on it! What would the difference be between something like a syko 7 and 9 or a tali ... Or is the bigger 9 the best way to go for chopping?

Some other suggestions: RTAK II, Browning Crowell-Barker, ESEE Junglas, Ontario SP50, KaBar Heavy Bowie, KaBar Cutlass, Condor Golok. all this depends on your budget of course, but none are overly expensive and would certainly fit the "chopper" niche.

The Browning Crowell / Barker Competition Knife is a great suggestion. Not often heard of on these forums but a great knife.

I rarely hear this one suggested... Ontario Kukri. It's the best chopper I have and I think its a great value. 11.5" blade and $60-70, or something like that. I don't know. Check it out maybe.

I don't suggest that one usually cause Condor provides better options, for less money.
