Actually What Happened Was:
A poster began an abusive rant and I explained that it was inappropriate. He apologized and we are fine. In fact he is a regular poster at Black Flag Cafe.
A fellow who has been on this forum for a decade or more began stalking and threatening my customers. I asked him to contact me because I wanted to introduce myself and send him a knife to review. He continued his foul mouthed rants so I posted his self posted, publicly available, BUSINESS information for himself and his next of kin who also has publicly posted business information on the internet. My goal once again was to introduce my self and discuss his obsessive posting (called cyber stalking) against my customers. I introduced myself
He contacted me, apologized and we fine and wer are fine he will be getting a knife to review. That person is a knife collector and I was able to help him understand that no one is anonymous on the internet and that we are all responsible for our actions and also for allowing the actions of others. Many posts mentioned threats. There was no such intent and once again you may contact the person for his point of view.
A moderator named Erik C refused to introduce himself and decided to get nerd aggro on me. If you need his posts let me know. But his actions were rude, inappropriate for a moderator of a business site and directly personally at me.
I then contacted Kevin directly to explain that his forum was becoming a cesspool of abusive stalkers who simply have no interest in discussing knives and are in fact (based on the dozens of emails) engaged in abusive behavior towards well intentioned but less bellicose members. You can see the same dozen or so bullies and I am happy to list their names and publicly available information if anyone feels they have been abused, threatened or intentionally intimidated.
Kevin did write me back a level headed assessment and I appreciate that but it seems that he is assuming that he is not directly responsible for the actions of people on this board and that it is OK to encourage and host people who simply like to attack, insult, abuse and degrade people. You of course will judge for yourself just how productive these people's responses are.
We had a fellow who runs a glass shop in New Jersey that instead of just sending his knife back for a refund decided to pretend that there was a problem. There wasn't other than his continual foul mouthed tirades
I contact Kevin to explain that as a business owner and someone who directs, edits and controls the activities of people on this forum that he has a group of people who engaged in activities that fall directly under torturous interference. Kevin is a customer and I fail to see why encouraging abusive, threatening activities on an open enthusiasts forum is productive or even legal.
Sometimes people ask very normal polite questions and they get very normal polite answers from me. Something that seems to inflame the same group of posters who vandalize this productive part of Bladeforums. I fail to see how an polite conversation can be conducted when stalkers who have no ownership in the product constantly attack without motivation.
While this behavior continues, Kevin published my private letter and continues to shut down any site related to this discussion. Thats why I began inviting people over to Black Flag Cafe where we don't allow stalkers, abusers, vandals or pack mentality. Your opinion will be respected. You are accountable for your actions and we enjoy a bit of humor and fun.
In any case by Kevin selectively deleting or shutting down forums relating to a manufacturer and directly preserving certain posts while removing others he has created a problem and I hope that he solves it.
A forum should allow people to express opinions and ideally they should present the facts to back them up. What I see here is the unbridled encouragement of abuse, obscenity, intimidation and deliberate damage.
That is my opinion but I think it is strongly supported by the facts.
If any of you want to contact me personally I am at [spam removed]
