Please let me know if my opinions are wrong.

Good follow up. I am torn ordering one. I have been following both the threads since they began. Where did you get yours?

Your opinions are wrong.
Just because someone doesnt throw their knife at trees and disassemble their knife seven times does not mean that they will not have problems out of the box with this knife. The others reviewers opinions are his opinions based on his experiences with the knife, same as you. Even the fact that you felt the need to disassemble your knife could point to the fact that there are serious design, manufacturing or QC problems which yet need to be addressed on this knife. These things should've been tested and the bugs worked out BEFORE marketing them and selling to the public. Seeing as how some people get good ones and other get not so good ones...same as with version 1.0 points to the fact that there may be a combination of design, manufacturing and quality control problems that still need to be worked out by Lionsteel.

i had the same problem but after i used it alot... i was botaning some wood with it.. lol i think i damaged the stop pin... but the customer service will take care of it as they always do... u have to order it from there own website.

Once again, a knife having a hard opening break in process is not a serious manufacturing problem at all. So are u saying most Strider Knives have problems?

The framelock pushes so hard into the blade that even if the framelock was to indent from breaking in, it would still push all the force to the blade making it never have any bladeplay. All I wanted to mention is that I believe the only way the knife can get that kinda blade play is if the knife was taken apart and manipulated. Dont take apart the knife and it will last a lifetime.

This is the only knife I have thrown around this much and beat up this much and had no problems with it what so ever. It is an extremely good knife, the truth I currently rely on this folder more that my strider and I am a huge huge strider fan. If I can find a nitinol strider than maybe i will switch my edc up.

I only dissasembled the knife because I got impatient and did not want to wait three years for mine to be buttery smooth. You know they say good things take time to create, so for now i am gonna just break mine in the right way and wait like i did with my strider.

I gotta disagree with you Composite on the blade play thing. On mine, I got that little rock back and forth, but I think it was from a bur. Once I opened and closed the knife quite a bit more, it worked itself out. Some people want a knife to be perfect out of the box, some people are tinkerers. I like mine, but it wasn't perfect out of the box. It had a break in period, around 2000 ish opens and closes the lock on mine finally quit being sticky. I also took my knife apart and slowly tigthened the g10 back down on the pivot until I got it to a comfortable looseness to open. Mine flings open now, and has zero side to side blade play.

Again, the knife wasn't perfect out of the box, but neither was my Sng or my Cqc-10. Both of those knifes came into their own just as the HEST/f did.

That is very true, my frame lock is also very sticky now and difficult to unlock but the good thing is I know it isnt gonna slip on accident like version 1.0.

Hey great review. We need more true testers like you....I pre-ordered my 2.0 which should be shipping tomorrow, i'll update you guys when it comes in..

it is really a great knife and the customer service is the best i have ever delt with and i have delt with a lot of customer service.. they are very fast to respond and do not stop till the customer is happy!!

I finally got mine in yesterday. From what I can see, it's a very solid knife and I haven't noticed anything at all that I see as a negative. Yes it's still a little tight in the pivot, but it's a new knife and I need to work on opening and closing some more to break it in.

One thing I REALLY like is the "opener" on the top rear of the spine. It works very very well as a wave. Using proper technique, it opened every time with an authoritative THWACK. I know that waving a knife excessively will cause it to wear, but at least I know that it works...and very well at that.

In general, I really like this knife. I never had the 1.0 version so I have nothing to compare it too, but this version (or at least this example) is a tank and will make a solid EDC.

Got mine, the lock bar has the same issue, the blade is also very very tight, loosen the special pivot screw wouldn't help, I also tried to unscrew all the screws but couldn't disassemble the knife, I wonder if anybody can show me how to loosen the pivot or how to take the knife apart, thanks in advance!

u just gotta break it in it helps to put some sharpie marks or pencil on the tang where the lock meets the blade...

and it will fly open once u break it in..

Thanks, nice review. I'd consider getting one noew if I wasn't saddled with other preorders. Maybe in the future.

I mentioned this in my review as well, but in a nutshell the g10 is all but pressed onto the pivot and stand offs. You'll have to take a screw driver or something to pry it off. Once you do this just squeeze it back down finger tight on the pivot. Go ahead and tigthen everything but the pivot, and then slowly tighten the pivot back down and use the tightening of the screw to bring that part of the g10 back down closed on the pivot. Do this until you reach what you feel is an acceptable amount of "looseness."

Thanks guys, I think I'll just give it a little longer time and see how it goes :)

Received my HEST 2.0 yesterday in the mail. The thing I like about it most is it's size, its very comparable in size to a Buck Vantage Large, just a a bit thicker. You hardly notice it in your pocket, this is a plus for me but I do feel it could use a smaller pocket clip. My copy has no issue with how the the blade opens. With one hand it opens smoothly and locks up tight with no blade play. The G10 is nice and grippy and it feels good in the hand. I do have two gripes which both have to deal with closing the knife. First is how hard it is to close, the lockbar sticks and at times is so tight I have to check to see if it's locked with the rotoblock. I'm hoping that this will get better with use/wear and become more fluid over time. The second gripe is of more concern to me, the rotoblock. The rotoblock rotates loosely and can engage at random, this becomes a big pain in the ass when trying to close your blade and you find out the rotoblock has engaged itself. Now, this is the first knife for me that uses a rotoblock but honestly I don't get this feature and feel it's useless. If you make the knife lockup tight then there shouldn't be any reason to have a device that locks the blade open, seems redundant. This is just my opinion and maybe someone can show me the light on this feature but this is the one thing I would change about the knife for the 3.0 version, ditch the rotoblock. Other than those two issues, which are more of a inconvenience than a deal breaker, I really like the blade. I look forward to carrying the knife and putting it through the ringer to see how it performs. So far it opens my beers flawlessly:D

the roto block shouldn't be that loose... u should have to actually have to turn it to lock the frame lock. contact customer service to see what u can do.
