Dream Spyderco.

they already made it: wayne goddard PE with black micarta scales. some douchebag stole mine, though, and I haven't been able to replace it. that's about my favorite blade shape ever. now if they made one with a framelock, oh yeah. I'd be all over that like ugly on an ape.

Large Calypso, in stainless, G10, titanium, micarta, carbon fiber. Pretty much anything would be good:thumbup:

That's interesting and more than a little surprising to me. Are you holding them or otherwise applying a lateral force to the locking bar when you stress the frame locks?

I have one of the original compression lock Vesuvius models. Would it really stand up to more lock stress than something like a Sebenza (or a Volpe, to keep it in the family)?
Not really fair comparing a frame lock to a liner lock. A compression framelock, like the ATR, would stand up to more stress than a Reeves type framelock like the Sebenza or Volpe. A liner compression lock like the Vesuvius, would withstand more stress than a Walker type liner lock of similar dimensions. On a Reeves or Walker lock, if something else does not fail first, the lockbar will bow enough to defeat the lock when sufficient force is applied. On a compression lock, there is no pressure against the front end of the lockbar, so it cannot bow. Instead, you are attempting to crush the cross section of the lockbar between the blade tang and a stop pin. You would need to either deform the lockbar or break the stop pin to fail the lock. Take a piece of 1 X 2 about three feet long, which is easier to do, bow it until it snaps by pushing on the ends, or crush it a couple inches back from one end?

Paramilitary with the following modifications:

Titanium locking spring and liner + Ti clip
Peel-ply carbon fiber instead of G-10
BG-42 blade

Would like to see the Lum Chinese folder back in the regular line-up, with a compression lock...... you asked for "dream knife"..... :)

good stuff guys.

That compression Frame lock or w/e. its called on the ATR seems pretty cool.

can anyone get me anymore info on it?

Compression lock.
Carbon Fibre scales.
ZDP189.
Convex grind all the way to the top.
4mm thick blade.
4 inch long blade.
Lotsa torx screws (size 9 or 10 minimum) securing the sandwich.
PB washers.
Good blade depth (1.5 inch approx at 2 inch at hole area)
Endura-like tip.
Boye Dent.
Low rider titanium clip (not colored but bead blasted).
Largish pivot diameter.
The pin where the compression lock pushes against when bending at closing direction to be thicker.
Cobra Hood.
Thick and full (skeleton for some :)) liners at 1.5mm thick approx.

Needless to say it ain't gonna be cheap :)

Interesting to note that the compression lock is nice cause at closing force (defeating lock direction) the blade pushes the lock which pushes a pin. I expect failure to be either the crushing of lock, shearing of the pin it's pushing against or the shearing of the pivot. In otherwords, compression-lock = me likee very much!!!

Spyderco Full Size Persian(C83) with either carbon fiber or white micarta scales.

Heck!Just bring back the original C83 & I'd be happy:D

.....maybe a sprint run with one of the cool super steels like ZDP,S30V or D2?

Although VG10 is great as it is:thumbup:

Though the ZDP knives are near perfect to me, there are times I'd like a medium/hard duty carbon steel/alloy steel knife in A2, F8, D3, Vascowear,or M4/A11 etc. Not really a popular idea with knife companies, I'd like to try it.

10 , or even 6 years ago there's no way I would have expected ZDP or S90V knives and now Spyderco makes them for anybody that wants them. Spydeco made me believe anything is possible.

An endura, or delica with "pick your steel " is kind of here already. That's amazing if you think about it. That's sort of my dream knife already. Of course in my dream I would have a few extra choices. I know that's unrealistic and really spoiled but that's my dream. Joe

My dream spydie would be a cross between the military and the police, they could even call it the MP. I might make it a little smaller.

A modified Police or Military with a hint of persian added to the blade. Then add to it a wood inlay on the handle dressed up real nice. To carry, it could have both the pocket clip and a nice leather pouch for belt carry.
