tried in the kitchen. very close to the typical japanese tool steel like sg2 a bit easier to sharpen, not completely stain proof. D2 like as its composition shows.

call me old fashioned, but i just want a plain high carbon steel. 1095 is oone of my favorites. so is spring steel. and whatever the hell randalls are made of, cause those blades just dont stop

i will say for boating or diving, my high carbon may not fare well. then i would go with vg-10, or h-1

If properly heat treated, I don't care. As long as the resulting blade is RC56-60.
