Dress Pants Carry Question

This slipcase came with the Northwoods Fremont Jack that I got, and it also fits my Fallkniven U2, Spyderco Air, and Northwoods Hawthorne. Just squeeze the sides and the knife slowly slips out.

Here is a picture I took at lunch today while reading through this thread. I work in an office, wear khaki pants most days (jeans on Friday) and carry this every day.

It makes a great pencil sharpener.

Benchmade Lightweight Axis, Plain Edge (model 530)
1.88 ounces!
$95
Problem solved :)

I agree with this completely!

Since it's such a popular design you'll likely be able to find a pocket sheath that'll not only hold it upright but will also break up it's outline. If there isn't one readily available any decent leather worker or kydex bender should easily be able to fabricate one for you and may even have the knife- which would save you from having to send it to them for the work.

It's thin enough to carry inside your waistband as others have suggested and the materials will be resistant to any problems from sweat if maintained occasionally.
I'd recommend the inside the waistband option for several reasons. You'll still have use of all of your pockets, you'll be able to get to it easier than a deep pocket carry, your hand won't be trapped in a pocket for a moment if caught off guard, it'll allow you to carry a larger knife if you so desire( which would obviously be better for your intended purpose ), and you may be able to retrieve it with either hand should the situation arise.

A large Ritter Grip with the S30V blade would be really nice. You could add some Wilkins G10 scales to it if you desired a little more texture to the handle, I think that they're flatter as well whichever suit that style of carry.

The axis lock is completely ambidextrous and the knives deploy at lightning quick speed with a little flick of the thumb stud.
The look of it along with the positive deployment speed may convince somebody that your not worth the fight; if they still attack the blade is long enough for the pokey slashy work.

Radjxf: I faced a similar problem, a year or so ago, to the one you face now. I had a pair of shorts that had a pocket inside the right front pocket, probably for car keys or such, that became my knife pocket, as long as I was wearing those shorts. After deciding which knives would probably be my EDC, I measured the size of pocket that I would need, and had the Laundry put a pocket inside all of my right front trouser pockets. The knife is always where I know it will be, and it will be tip up. In the vertical position with the heavy end down, it doesn't print on my trouser leg when I'm walking or sitting, etc. A modest price, solved a huge problem. Try one pair of trousers and see how it works for you.

Actually very good idea. I've had a few pairs of shorts/pants with that mini pocket inside the main pocket and it's perfect to keep small things from moving around inside your pocket. You could clip your knife onto that or just place an in clipped knife in it. Should hold it in there fine and it should remain upright

Have u considered a neck knife or some variation there of. I carry a small fixed blade(fallkniven juni) in its regular sheath hung on a ball chain when pocket carry presents issues. Also have a kydex sheath made for kershaw shallot on a ball chain. Both are great. Pretty much invisible in a dress setting with shirt n tie n jacket. I also carry sometimes a oso sweet clipped inside the cuff of long sleeve shirts.

The average person is not very observant. A security guard or police office is probably more observant. I was standing in line at a fast food restaurant about 15 years ago and noticed the guy in line behind me had a glock in a holster on his belt. He was dressed in jeans and casual shirt just like I was. (No provision for open carry in my state.) I didn't notice a badge but I didn't feel like carefully inspecting the guy. When we left I noticed a marked car in the parking lot, probably belonging to the guy.

You can't compare the bulge of a knife sitting in the bottom of your pocket (which could also be any number of things) to someone open carrying a Glock pistol.

Right now small, out of sight pocket knives are a gray area. Not banned yet, but soon will be. There are a bunch of liberals (mostly management) that will make your life hell if they find out you have a knife. One of my coworkers was recently written up by mgt because he left his Case peanut on his desk. It was repeatedly referred to as a "weapon"
RADJXF,
I don't know if anyone has mentioned it to you yet, but the "jerk it" smiley/emoticon is for the W&C (Wine and Cheese) forum only, where anything goes.

Someone was written up because of a CASE PEANUT!!!:confused::mad:
That is kind of knife people carry so anti-knife people can't freak out. I don't know what the laws are like in Montana, but if they feel threatened by a Peanut, the managers at your office need counseling.
If a kid was in the office with Crayola scissors would the office go into lockdown?!

ZT 0770CF. Slim, elmax, sophisticated and smooth. BOOM, done!!!

The pocket clip is tiny, rides deep and is black; virtually invisible with dark slacks.

I double-tap this one. Knife is three ounces...famed ZT quality, quick to flip, very economical to purchase.
Just FYI, I don't reco a knife for self-defense unless you are well-trained.
Fast feet, pepper spray, something non-lethal to the bad-guy or yourself.

i don't know why a clip would give you away. I would suggest a knife with a deep carry clip like the ZT560 which is what I use and I work in an office. When I do use it and someone remarks, I say I have it because you never know when you're going to come across a steak that needs slicing.

Another thought if your environment is very anti-knife is to get one of the "tactical" pens that you can use as a weapon.

Don't know how to add a picture but I would recommend the Benchmade 3150 Lerch Impel. Its an auto in s30v and runs around $150. Conceals fantastic in any type of pants and small enough to where you don't notice it. I carry mine every single day and love it.

Good lord, the Spyderco Air is the clear and easy solution I found to this dilemma. Light as hell, one-handed opener, quality steel. No changes needed to your carrying style.

It's what I carry in dress pants. Al Mars and Dragonflies sometimes work too.
