Hey all, I have seen photos here and there of 110's and 112's with Drop Point blades. My goodness they look awesome. Where did they come from and how can I get one. Do or did they do this at the Buck Custom Shop? ~baba~

You can make your own...For the 112, get a 442 drop-point...For the 110, get an old 426 Bucklite drop point...and just swap the blades... :)

I swap the backsprings, too...Saves a lot of fitting... ;)

So, chickentrax, how do you go about swapping the blades? How about the inlays, any tutorials here on the forum? Mike

They were available to BCCI (Buck Collectors Club, Inc.) members a few years ago as a fund raiser project if I remember correctly. A good reason to join the BCCI.

These drop points came out of the Buck Collector Club as fund raisers a few years back. I think there was less than a couple hundred each, made. Made at the Buck Factory in Idaho. They are S30V

Only way to get one of these is to find some one willing to part with one.

So, I see you have a spare 112 & 110 drop point. Any thoughts to part with them? You'd be doing all us desparate Buck collectors a favor ;)

Press out the blade pin, grind/mill the head off the backspring pin, press that out. Cut new pins from 1/8" brass and SS rod, insert them in the old bores. Crush the brass pin in place; peen the SS pin in place. I leave the brass pin 1/16" long on each side; after crushing it, file/mill/sand it down flush, and then buff it.

I use a Harbor Freight arbor press and some hardened steel pins to press out the old brass pins. I have one of Harbor's 3in1 mills to mill the SS heads off.

There have been several "tuts" here (one by me); others did HowTo's as well. Lack of interest killed them off...They may still be in the Archives, but I know mine is missing the pics because, like I said, no one cared...

Why don't you do one??? :)

Here's part of one of my "tuts"... ;)

That's been a sore point with me. I have one each of the BCCI 110 and 112 Sambar Stag S30V FG drop-points that I tried to sell here on the Buck FS Forum. Basically, the members who responded wanted me to give them away. :(

From now on, I'll sell on eBay. ;)

Thanks Trax, I found one of your "tuts", it took a little searching. I think this is the first one you posted: Trax 110 Tut You're right the pics are all gone....:(...but still a bunch of good info there. I bookmarked them so I can back and finish reading later.

I'd like to tear into a 110 but I need to get another one first. I only have two, one my bro gave me and the other is just too nice, so, I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a beater I can go to work on. Thanks again...

Hey guys, don't go digging up a pics.....I know who to ask if I run into problems. I'm more interested in changing out scales (inlays) than switching out blades. To make the 110 with swappable inlays it seems the SS pin should be behind the scales rather than through them....any thoughts on that?
