I'm pretty new to the forums and new to the world of steel. I've been looking to get a new fixed blade from DS&S Tactical, but they are pretty pricey. I was just wondering if anyone on the forums has had any experience with them. I like their bullshark blade. There website is www.ds-tactical.org. They claim they are the best in the world. They use stainless steels like Elmax and M390, which is very good if HT correctly. They also offer a nano technology which is applied to the steel somehow as an upgrade (very expensive ). Any info on how good these beautiful blades are will be appreciated.

That website reads like a ten year old made it. I'd stick with established brands. Doing some digging, he's been active since 2009 or so. But the usual specops, secret squirrel, nano tech nonsense is raising some red flags.

Thanks, Jbc...that is THE funniest knife site I have read in a long time. Forget Dark Ops!

"Our second knife tester was disappointed we had not mentioned him. That's because we can't. Of course he knows that and sends his regards.

You see, his business involves James Bond kind of stuff - and business is booming."

Priceless! The model names?!?! City of Bones?!? Martyr Maker?!? Hilarity! There is no end!

Its overpriced fantasy ninja nonsense for 13 year old boys and chairborne commandos.

In my opinion.

"nano-steel treatment"...wow.

That site is a mall ninja's wet dream. Names like the "Martyr Maker" and gimmicks like "self draining G10 handles" would make me chuckle and move on to a different maker. Especially when that silliness will cost you $500+. They may use quality steels like Elmax but I am just not high speed and low drag enough to operate with tools of that caliber.

Lets try to turn this around....

OK...Why from them? What do you want to do with your new fixed blade?

If we know that, I bet we can find you one that isn't utter nonsense like this DS&S silliness.

I don't think it's my place to judge anyone else's taste in knives or what they choose to spend their dollars on. (I own and have owned quite a few Cold Steel knives that aren't the most practical pocket companions.)

However, I have to say that DS&S tactical doesn't have to produce giant unwieldy knives to go all "tactical" on their adversaries. They can assault, maim and damage with just their website design alone.

Before wasting money on crudely ground bogus junkpiles, you should perhaps look into knives with good grinds and quality designs.

Why in the heck would you want something that looks like it came straight from China

Especially at those prices. Wow, I hope there aren't many people out their willing to buy that S@@T :D

I thought their knives were fairly cool but steered clear after a bad vibe with some of the employees. They came across cocky and snotty like they were all that after I asked a simple question as I was just getting into knives at the time that were more expensive and the response they gave basically felt like they were calling me a dumbass. I know a lot more now than I did then so I was curious a little and the response was like they expected me to know they if I was buying knives. There are other makers I would choose instead and just steer clear plus the prices were higher than other great makers.

"Pay the invoice then I'll start".

"Current wait time aprox. 15 weeks"

Seriously, a non-established company, knives designed for 13 year olds and charging $500+ paid in full up front, yea that business plan makes perfect sense.

Beat me to it. That and the monster shark knife that's pictured front and center were cracking me up.

Well, that and this:

Good lord.

Hey! Listen here, pencil-necked computer jockey! At DS&S Tactical:

We make impossible gear for impossible situations. We do this for our greatest friends - because they are out there in the bad places, holding back the darkness for us all.

At DS&S, we make gear for legends.

If you aren't a one-man, high-speed, low-drag, killing battalion...they don't want your business.

Instead of wasting your time with people like this- and honestly I would never pay full price up front for a knife with a wait time, from any maker- check out the Maker's Market here. Even if you don't see exactly what you're after you can pick a maker whose work you like and maybe design your own knife.

I was just wondering about them. I thought they might be a joke. I have a fixed blade in 3v, but I would like to carry something sharper.

Ds&s are kinda cheezy. I never really thought about it. What about nocturnal knives, they seem to have a good warranty.

Wow! I LOVE tactical knives, and this site is why. I'm gonna buy the Leonida, at 700$, that's a steal for a knife that tactical. Thanks for the link, my only question is; why are they a .org?

I'm pretty sure that site is a spoof.....

I really hope that site is a spoof. No one can be that tar tar in real life.

Depends if you want to cut or just bludgeon things.

We do not, however, weigh our knives. If you are worried about how much they weigh, you must be preparing to take them into space. Hope you have a good trip

I resent the fact that they are prejudice against astronauts, and that their knives are 15 lbs and ugly as sin. I don't see any of those knives being functional for combat, and knives that are functional for combat casts a reeeaaaallly wide net. There are more knives that are functional for combat than those that are not.... these are not.
