Ds&s tactical knives

What about nocturnal knives, they seem to have a good warranty.

Where are you finding all this junk? Those knives look like half hearted attempts at steampunk final fantasy Cosplay props. If I were you I'd go look at the fixed blade exchange here - I don't think you could do any worse than the best knives either one of those companies put out.

Beat me to it. That and the monster shark knife that's pictured front and center were cracking me up.

Well, that and this:

Good lord.

she's a pack of Newports and a Double Cheeeburger away from posing for noodz. You should call her Q!

I don't think I could get the 'Christian Boot Knife' because my boots are agnostic and I respect their beliefs.

I had a thread I started a few months ago on the funniest marketing spiel that knifemakers/manufacturers put out today. Even the respected ones are a little guilty of cheesy marketing, but these guys set a new standard.

One hopes they are spoofing. However, I would not be surprised if they actually find a market.

Mhmm boot mount ...

only real operators are that tacticool

Ds&s are kinda cheezy. I never really thought about it. What about nocturnal knives, they seem to have a good warranty.

I really doubt that you find DS&S cheezy, if you are asking about Nocturnal Knives. And that's fine...to each his own. You asked. Many here didn't like either...but that doesn't mean you don't have to.

If you like that kinda thing....buy it and enjoy it. Its your knife and money.

LOL No thanks, she looks like she's a little more into hanging out at crappy smoke-filled dive bars than I am. That, plus my wife would utterly destroy her and then kick my ass. The wife's not a knife person.

She's a gun person.

Dang, DS&S make Cold Steel look down right conservative. Like others, I hope their site is a joke. Even if I had money to burn I wouldn't waste it on one of those pieces of refuse. Of course, there were no mall ninjas when I was 13. We rode skateboards, grew our hair long and listened to grunge and metal.

I was asking an opinion. All my knives are sharp. I have a Fehrman last chance. I'm sure u know that I was asking advise about a steel that can be sharper than 3v. Fehrman is the only high end steel I have. Sharpen it, good one.

"Sharp" isn't dependent on steel. It's dependent on edge angle.

I am very green to all this. I am learning that just because a knive company says they use top shelf steel , don't mean the product is top self. U guys are a lot of help, even though some of u knock on me because of my ignorance to this new world to me. I really only wondered why ds tactical was expensive. I was curious about them. Now I know what to look for. I still think I might get a nocturnal knife . I don't think they are anything like ds tac. I like the 3v and the thick blade. I don't know maybe it might be junk but I seen them on YouTube at the 2013 blade show. They look pretty awesome on YouTube. I love my Fehrman last chance. I also have an extreama ratio Rao and I like it a lot too. I think I might get a busse TGLB.

Thanx marcinek. I have a few different wet stones of various grits. I'm getting pretty good over the last few years. What type of edge grind and angle do u prefer. I have trouble doing a convex grind by hand.

Wish I had the funds you have. Sorry if I came off as being a jerk, but I generally tend to stick with brands that are recommended by the knowledgeable folk here at BF. Its just like all the zombie rounds out there--just an overpriced gimmick. I tend to avoid gimmicks like the clap.

I have trouble not doing a convex grind by hand! That's why I convex many of my knives.:)

I really don't know what angle to tell you to put on something like one of those Nocturnals. Their thickness is way beyond my experience or need. what would you expect to do with a blade that thick? Especially on a folder?

That said...I have handled some Fehrmans and those seem thick, but reasonable. And not crazily designed. Nice knives.

Depends if you want to cut or just bludgeon things.

That is a knife shaped beat stick right? Is that steel 1/2" thick!? I just... Wow...

As for DS&S... Yeah, just don't. Their knives are pretty bad looking, their prices are ridiculously high, and some of their technology (self draining handles?) is just made to sound cool. Ceramic blade coatings are nothing new, and you can get it on sub-$20 knives. There are better blade coatings out there, like PVD and DLC, or even Cerakote available on knives that are far less inanely priced.

You asked for something sharper, but then you gravitate toward designs that will never cut well. The Fehrman will outcut any of the nocturnal blades by geometry alone, and because the handle was designed to be grasped by a human, in more comfort.

I feel stupid talking to u all about knives. I got pretty good a sharpening my knives. I just attempted a convex edge on a buck knife. It turned out sharp enough to shave my arm but the edge doesn't look very clean. I start from the tip down. Idk what I did wrong. I kept the factory edge on the fehrman, I've only had to touch it up once. I kinda like thick fixed blades because I am hard on my knives. My E.R. Rao is the only folder I carry. I've had it for 3 years and I have beat the crap out of it. I love it. I'm going to look on the exchange here for a new fixed blade.

I don't anybody is trying to make you feel stupid, and I dont think anybody thinks you are stupid. There are 2 things going on though:

1) You asked about a couple brands of knives that nobody really liked. So what? If you like them, you like them.
2) You seem to be interested in getting your blades sharper. Blades that thick cannot get as an acute edge angle as a thinner blade. They'd be all edge grind. If it could be done at all. Geometry is a cruel mistress. Its a gross oversimplification, but thick....or sharp.
