I thought I'd go for a hike today and get some pics of my DM compared with my Grunt.
I set of on a trail I had never taken before, man was this a tough trail or should that be trial, it was uphill all the way !!!
A stop to get my breath and snap a pic.....

I hoped that with all the climbing I would be rewarded with a view at some point, I was not dissapointed.....

I tried both knives at making feather sticks, these were a little rushed but the BlackJack was better than the DM although both would get the job done...

Although the DM has the thicker spine the one on the Grunt ain't too shabby !!!

After being voted BF W&S Mascott, the fame has gone to Maisy's head, she is now talking about doing a PlayMutt magazine and wants this pic for the cover....

A final shot of my Grunt !!!

That's it, I'm moving to Vancouver Island. I can't take these threads anymore while having to look at my dreary surroundings all day. :P

Beautiful pictures. Where were they taken? Tell Maisy hello. She looks like a sweety!

Once again pit, great pics! The shots of the lake make me want to live there, and the knives look great too.

Looks as awesome as ever. I may have to use those feather stick photos in the wiki :)

Pit,

Awesome pics as always. That Grunt looks great, I like Blackjack's stuff... You need to get Maisy a special collar to signify her new status!!

Great pics as always, Pit. Man, it looks like summer there! We had more snow (and bad commuting) again today. I'm jealous.

Awesome pictures pitdog! Brings a little sunshine to my life given the 15 cm of snow we received yesterday!

Did you tweak the colours on that last shot. I love that soft green, reminds me of how the old slide film, Fugi Velvia used to come out - glorious on the greens! Also must be a really sharp knife cutting that ceder like that in one fell swoop :)

Hey Pit, You said that the Aus-8 Blackjack was working out better for you ref. slicing up some fuzz sticks, then the SR-77 DM? Was that because of the geometry? Which one retained the edge longer?
Thanks,
Mitch

Yeah the geometry is just better bro plus the handle is a lot comfier for prolonged use.
The DM is just like a tank and when it cuts wood it kind of shudders a little like I remember the wood planes doing when I was doing woodwork back in school !!!
As far as edge retention the DM has kept an edge real well and all I have yet done is touch it up on a steel ( probably why it shudders !:D ) but I haven't used the Grunt enough to check it's edge retention, I would guess it's at least average being AUS 8. Unlike my Mutt I have not really punished the Grunt battoning etc and have just used it for cutting tasks that you expect a knife to be used for !!!

Here are a few more pics that I hadn't included.....

Here is one of Maisy with a stick that she took a liking to, you can tell with how she has her paw on it that she ain't gonna let nobody take it from her !!!

Here is another view showing some of the small Islands just off the coast....

One of me drinking my cuppa tea and taking in the view.....

And finally a comparison shot of both knives....

Excellent pics! The grunts are on sale right now, I'm picking one up based on this fine display.

Man, I like that Grunt. How long have you had it? From what I can tell from some searching, they are no longer made in Japan from AUS 8, but are now made in China from 10Cr17.
