Dumpster Mutt Compared With BlackJack Grunt !

Great pics (as usual)!
The Grunt looks like a cool knife.
The grip on your Blackjack Grunt is exactly the same as on my first gen Blackjack Viking Raider axe.
I guess i'm going to have to get a New Generation Blackjack.
Is the Grunt still in production?
Whats the blade thickness?
:)

I like how the edge on the grunt comes closer to the handle. No choil!

Yeah thats cool,The grunt looks like a nice general purpose design.

Lately I don't care much for choils either.

When i was in my "big knife" phase i used to love them.
I dug out my old BlackJack Anaconda II last night, haven't used that in years.
I still like it but the choil on it is huge, 1 inch and 3/8ths!
Also forgot how uncomfortable the Anacondas handle is.
I'd be tempted to rehandle it but i don't know if i should.
Supposedly they only made 2500 of these.
The kraton has gotten a little soft, sticky and waxy over the years.
My SOG Desert Dagger went like that as well, eventually the kraton up near the guard turned to mush.
I eventually rehandled it.

Nice photos–reminds me of Acadia Park in Maine. But not this time of year!

Same here. I can see the purpose of a choil on a large, blade heavy chopper, but on a small to medium knife, they only decrease performance in cutting work. Luckily, you don't see many choils at all in European knives.

I think the blade is 3/16" although that is what my Swamprat RMD is and the Grunt appears thicker ?

Great pics! It's good to know someone else likes the Grunt as much as I do. I have actually been lucky enough to talk with Ken Warner a few times. He's a great person to talk with about sharp blades.

Hey Pit... Since the BlackJack is AUS8 (right?) and that's 'stainless' and the Dumpster Mutt is SR-77 'non-stainless' how have the two compared as far as edge loss due to corrosion? (because that's the only part of the DM not coated) It looks like you've carried your DM quite a bit, so I assume that it's not been too big of a problem, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

The SR77 appears really good as far as resisting corrosion, it will tarnish slightly but then as soon as I use it the tarnish is removed. If I remember I will give it a wipe over with mineral oil, but like I said there is no real issue with it rusting and I have also yet to re-sharpen it although I have ran it over a steel a few times.
