E-bay troubles

My sister has a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse. She was buying headlights for it on E-bay and she found a set for $253 (including shipping and handling) from the seller "xrteam". My mom used her PayPal and E-Bay accounts for the transaction which took place on June 5th. She recieved her receipts from PayPal. Roughly two weeks later, the seller sent an e-mail saying that the item was unpaid. She sent him the receipt from PayPal and e-mailed him 12 times with no response other than an automated one. More time elapsed and the seller left positive feedback, although the item had not been received. She was sent a survey from the seller (company) asking about the service. She replied that she hadn't received anything and was e-mailed a dispute. She answered to the dispute and the seller is now saying he will hold no strikes against her (gee, what a guy!). She reported the situation to PayPal; however, the 30-day time period has more than elapsed, and it would appear that this was the seller's plan.

So it would appear that we are out $253, which I could have spent on a nice knife, or maybe knives. Anyone have any advice?

Thanks,
Dan

Did she pay by credit card? If so, perhaps the company could do a charge-back, I believe credit card companies give you more than a 30 day window to request one.

This guy's a massive choad.

Hey Bob,

She's not here at the moment, so I can't tell you.

Here's some of the buyers negative feedback, though:

 and the list goes on.

This sucks!!
Just reminds us to dispute anything not complete before the 30 days with ebay and paypal. :(
The paypal time limit may not be over yet. You can't dispute before 30 days with them. But I forget the time limit.
I had paypal get $ back for me once.

Hey Wolf,.
98% of his feedbacks were positive, so they probably saw that and figured it was OK. I'll go get more information regarding PayPal and disputing the order.

best of luck-paypal and ebay let bad sellers get away with a heck of a lot oftentimes-far too bureaucratic and profit-oriented to bother with the little people sometimes.

as far as how to get ahold of someone at paypal, check out the FAQ at http://www.paypalsucks.com - toll-free #s that they make a great effort not to disclose are listed.

i wouldn't say that it's impossible by any means to get reimbursed, just get ready to make a lot of effort to make that happen, and keep good records of correspondance with the seller and paypal/ebay.

Well, unfortunately PayPal taps into her bank card. I just filed a fraud report on e-bay. Here's the seller's information:

Yin Man
PO BOX 9262
El MONTE, CA 91733

Primary phone: (626) 786-6586
Secondary phone:
Fax# :
EMail: xrteam@tanwi.com

I'll try to call the number today.

When the number is tried it says "This mailbox is full". I could kill. I hope that fraud report goes through, you don't steal $253 from my family.

"This mailbox is full"...Man, THAT'S a bad sign, and a red-flag. I wish you the best of luck in getting it straightened-out and/or your money back.

Just checked L.A. County public property ownership records, and there are 4 Ying Man listings and one Man Yin, but none of the properties are in El Monte.

Call the 800 number for the USPS office. Make a report that a Post Office box in wherever CA is being used for fradulent activity, ain't much but it might help.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll do that. My mom is going to call PayPal tonight and see if she can get anything settled there.

This has happened to me as well. I have now learned the hard way to check the sellers feedback as pro~2~call before bidding on anything. I now ONLY deal with folks w/100% Feedback from there buyers. And I read them all to see if there is anything that would ever concern me as abuyer!!

This guy[and many others] will continue to do this until eBay get tough with all the scam artists routinely raking us good folks over the coals.

PayPal works on many different financial aggreements and credit cards are one of the mainstays that will be tied into it. However, it depends on your family set they're's up. But check it out quick before all your time is lost!

Good Luck :)

Abundant Blessings,
AFE~

Hi SunnyD,

Sorry that you've fallen victim to this to.

Anyone know how I'd get number for the post office? That's an alternative that I really like.

Have you looked into filing a fraud complaint with e-bay? If I remember correctly, you have to do so between 30 and 60 days after the auction ends. You may be able to recover a large % of your funds as long as the 60 day limit hasn't expired. E-mail me directly if you have issues getting the fraud process started.

Bill
